I've never experienced any problems with flickering, micro stutter or any other graphical anomalies associated with dual card set ups. The only thing I would say you need to be aware of is the fact that not all games support crossfire right off the bat, sometimes you can wait a week or two for a new game patch, Catalyst App Profile(CAP) or even new hotfix drivers to allow crossfire to work as normal (this also happens with SLI). If this doesn't phase you at all then I would say you have nothing to worry about going Crossfire.

My current crossfire setup has never once flickered, or shown any microstutter. I was under the impression that those were things of the past, but the crysis video makes me think that maybe those people just had bad cards?

I've done crossfire all the way up from 3 way 4850s to 3 way 4850+4870+4890 to 2 way 5870s to 2 way 6950s and never had any issues.

lol that guys video. One of his cards has a fault for sure or there not plugged in right to the back of his machine. I never have had any problems with the cards themselves and have been using ATI well, I've never used Nvidia. I've had 4870's XFire and Trifire, XFire 5870s and now Xfire 6950's all have performed fabulously. The drivers however...... there better now but have been problematic in the past.....

The converter you'll need is or one of it's relatives, depending on which port your cards have. If they have full size display port, then get that to DVI, or if your cards are miniDisplayPort, then get the adapter in the link. You'll need that to run Eyefinity (surround). You just plug 2 monitors on DVI or HDMI and one on the adapter, and you're good to go. You need to make sure you buy an ACTIVE adapter, as a passive one will not work for a third monitor. I made that mistake already, but fortunately passive adapters are only ~$6.

So now i am here to quench all the ATI myths i've heard about and hopefully join camp red aswell
I'm glad you've had a good experience. I almost went with a 1090T or another X6, but the reality is that those processors were so behind sandy bridge, that I just couldn't do it as much as I wanted to support AMD. I can't wait to see what Bulldozer pulls out, but I don't have high expectations unfortunately. I think hands down Intel won this round :-/ In fact, if you went with CF 6950s, your CPU would be slowing the video cards down unless you overclock the heck out of it. I wish that the extra 2 cores would make up for the clock differences, but unfortunately it seems like it doesn't. I went from my Q9300@3.5ghz to a 2600k@4.3ghz, and the upgrade was night and day, just as you saw, especially in BFBC2 which I play a lot of.

Also, I've never seen CF flickering on my 6950s... I haven't had crossfire problems with many if any apps, just the odd older program not working 100% right 100% of the time, but no in-game problems (rainbow6 vegas 2 has starting problems, but once in the game it works). I'm not currently running my eyefinity, but when I was it was running great as well, though it was a pain to get games set up for eyefinity if they didn't natively support it (Borderlands was a nightmare to get going with that, but BFBC2 and Civ5 worked right off the bat and looked and performed great, though I needed the second 6950 to keep my framerates up)

CROSSFIRE IS FAIL.

I used it for all of 2 hours before i got rid of my second card. Most games had no noticible increase, and some were worse. It also flickered a little bit. All around BAD.

Crossfire and eyefinity gave me problems with screen tearing. Never had a problem on a single monitor.

Crossfire is already bad. Eyefinity is worse. I don't understand why the hell they can't make working drivers and software.

I've been running with Crossfire for almost three months now and the only problem I have had has been new games like Brink. Just wait for the driver support a week or two after release and there shouldn't be anything wrong.

Of course, PEBKAC isn't always completely out of the question.
