Will this build run BF3 (high settings, minimal eye candy)

It's my budget build. Not planning to do any overclocking.

Plus my resolution is 1600 x 900.

I already have an OS on hand.

I am fine with details, textures, and effects maximized, with AA/AF/HBAO/VSYNC/Shadows off and 25+ FPS.

That setup will run Battlefield BC2 at around medium settings or high with some slowdowns/lag. Since BF3 is a newer engine and will be more demanding, no u won't be able to run it on high. Maybe medium at most. Consider getting at least a 5850 or a 460 and a faster cpu. 2.8ghz will be a bit slow for such a cpu intensive game.

The Power supply your looking at buying is 380 watts. Thats not enough to even run your GPU. The 5770 asks for a minimum of 450 watts

I've heard that the 6870 will run on the Antec 380W, since the rating is continuous. I think that the 450W requirement is grossly inflated since many PSUs out there are crap. I've tried to find a good 450W PSU, but almost all of them are from companies that don't make very good PSUs or are expensive.

Except 5850s are so dang hard to find, many are going for $300+

im going to say NO.
a single 5770 is not a super powerful gpu. No one knows for sure, how demanding bf3 will be. I would have to think it will be equal to bc2 ( in that ballpark) I would double my cash and get a Gtx 560 they can be had for around $190 these days. a 6870 around 200+ A 6850 can be had for around $160 ish

PS. post a thread in the build section, state your budget and your needs. There are alot of people here that can help you get the most bang 4 your buck.

I don't know why everyone thinks that BF3 will have similar requirements to BC2. Think of BF3 as Metro 2033's brother or something similar. Have you seen those trailers and pics, all of them are smokin HD. Remember all those videos of BF3 were played on a gtx 580.

When I say everyone I don't mean everyone here, I refer to people who under judge pc game requirements.

If you want to play BF3 on high settings, you are atleast looking at a budget of $1000 or $1200.

Here are some cards I recommend, you can find them for cheaper if you search around. These might get you high settings :

gtx 460 768mb:

6850 1gb:
gtx 460 1gb:

If you have a bigger budget try getting at least 2gb 6950 or 560 but if you are low on cash, those choices I listed above are solid performers. edit: hmm at 1600x900 you should be okay with a 460 or a 6850 but consider getting a faster cpu or overclocking it, this game will be very cpu intensive.

Thanks for your guys' input. I've made some changes, which made it significantly more expensive, more than $200 than the original build. But as long as it runs BF3 smoothly More input is appreciated!

1x 580 maxed it on 1920x1080 with 60FPS and never dipped below, on a pre-alpha. Metro gets way less. The game optimized should have a 6970/570 run it prefect.

my gtx 460 (1gb) runs BFBC2 at max graphics at around 80fps (on some more intense maps it is around 40-50fps though)
