Plus the GTX 560 Ti is way to expensive Thanks for your suggestions though!
Virtu kind of sucks right now. Granted that it'll improve with driver updates, but I don't know if that will help with BF3. By the way if the differences between dx10 and dx11 are like they were in BC2, you can get a HELL of a lot more performance in dx10 and turn up visual settings.

Try one of those newly released Sapphire 5850 Xtremes. They're supposed to be around $150 and better than GTX 460s.

You guys are pushing these imaginations in your heads too much, its not like DICE/EA will make BF3 so heavy that only the high end cards will be able to play it. Its a game like all other games, it will play on lower end cards on lower resolutions.

Go with a gtx 560TI, a 2500k, and a p67 motherboard ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-230-_-Product ), its not like you are going to use the on board graphics of z68. You are also going on a budget build so I guess you will not invest in an SSD for SSD chache so there is no point in Z68.

Thanks for everyone's suggestions! I think I will stick with the Z68 since it is already cheap (the P67 version is also $119), and switchable graphics would probably save a tiny bit of energy. So my build is probably almost final. I think it's as good as it can get so I can some nubz

Pretty cool how you guys can peer into the future and tell us what an unreleased engine and game needs....

You can NOT compare BC2 to the Heaven benchmark to describe how DX10 gives massive improvements. I may not have DX11, but I can't tell the difference between 9/10, and I gained about 10+ fps. From what I hear, shadows are the main improvements over earlier versions of DirectX. And no, no matter what kind of speculation, nobody here can know what BF3 requires until you have the game in your hands, on your hardware.

A 768mb 460 is a waste of money. i5 2400 is also a pretty pointless, especially if you're buying a Z68. And get 2x4gb of ram and a 1tb drive. Seriously, your build is a horrible waste of money. For just a wee bit more you'll get a considerably better stuff.

Ehhh I wouldn't say the 768mb is a waste of money, and it performs almost the same as the 1GB at the resolutions I'm playing at (plus hella cheaper). How exactly is the 2400 pointless? It's $35 cheaper than the 2500K, and I don't plan to overclock, while the 2500 is just $15 cheaper than the 2500k. I still have my 160Gb HDD, and after 7 years, I still haven't used up all of it for an expansion lol. Maybe because all my MS office files are just a few KB, while my games take the most space. 1TB seems to be too much (and expensive), and by the time I will need a new one, maybe 1TB SSDs will be mainstream.

I do see what you mean with 8GB of RAM, it'll probably be "future proof", but my computer never uses more than 1.95GB.

Sorry if I seem like I'm defending myself, I just felt that it wasn't that bad haha...

^agree with you. i got 2 of them and they run fine at 1080p if u don't care for AA in demanding games such as crysis at 1080p, but ur at 900p, crank it up
i'd say u should get 2 and do SLI. that 768MB 460 is way overpriced btw. i got mine for $140 and $90.

I do recommend u buy the 1 TB, then make a 200 GB partition. you'll be short-stroking the drive and storage performance will be greatly increased. trust me, it is worth it.
if it was me, I'd get the 1 TB HDD rather that 8 GB ram. just drop down to 4 GB and get the HDD!!!
