Quick - I need a cpu cooler

Thread Starter
Ok my cpu cooler is making a terrible noise. The fan is about to go. I need a new cpu cooler quick.

I am just about to upgrade anyway so I need something for a 1155 socket cpu.

It needs to look pretty good but performance is a must.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Budget? Or else everyone will say Noctua DH-14 if staying with air. Or thermalright Silver Arrow. Also cannot go wrong with any of the TRUE's or Megahalems.

Budget is say average $100. For noctua do you mean the NH-D14.

Also I have a window on my case so I want something that looks nice. This is what I have now.

Lol, yes, sorry. Brewskies on a Sat night.

Humm.. well "nice" is very subjective now isnt it? The D14 is very intimidating, large, massive, best words i can come up with.

This comes to mind if looks are a big concern as well. Nice performer as well.

go with the silver arrow or the nh-d14... for aesthetics... they look pretty similar but the look of the s.a fans are better imo.

EDIT: if you want performance.. the d-14 and s.a both outperform any prefilled water cooling setup.

I'd recommend Corsair H70, reduces my processor temps by 15C to 20C. Best buy.

Another vote for the Silver Arrow or Noctua NH-D14.

If you go with Corsair, might as well wait for the H80 or H100 to come out. (I don't know when, offhand) On that budget, I don't think it makes sense to bother getting the H70 anymore.

If you can't wait, then one of the other two I mentioned would do just fine.
