My GTX 460 it be borken mon.

So, If you check my sig rig, you will see my specs, well My mobo is gone, but before that went out i started having problems with GTX 460 B (i've labeled them)

It didn't matter which slot i put card B in, Turned on sli? Turned it off, REinstalled the OS tried old drivers, new ones, It would not power the fan beyond 1650 RPM

At 100% the fans supposed to be at just under 4k RPM, I forsee this as bad as im a surround user, and if the fan won't go above idle speeds then the card tends to get hot and auto shutoff, So, how do i unbreak my 460 that all of a sudden just started doing this?

Btw, it is a gainward GS GTX 460 2gB

Ideas? I've tried Nvidia System tools, Afterburner, You name it i've tried it, hell i even swapped the fans on them since they are the same model, and it doesn't matter Card B won't go above that limit.

Back in the day, I did this to my 6600GT because I kept artifacting once the fan on the card went kapoot!. It worked really well to be honest. I don't know how easy it would be but you could maybe replace the current fan and stick a 120MM system fan in its place on your heatsink. You could power the fan by the Mobo.

Can't plug the fan into the mobo, cables not long enough, its also a slimline 4pin not the usual big stocky fans, as for sticking something to it, i honestly don't think that would work, given its an nvidia 400 series card, they get naturaly VERY hot.

From this image it shows the heatsink below the fan and shroud. If you can remove the fan and shroud im sure you would be able to put a system fan or maybe two in its place. Thats if you have some fans and plugs to supply them the power.

I was partly thinking of trying a first venture into water cooling, but i guess i could do it that way, and stick that card in the bottomslot so it can breathe.
