Okay I just want to say thankyou! I have managed to get into the switch without wiping the config.

Now I also have a Cisco 1800 ADSL router, I have tried to configure the router to use a BT broadband connection coming from atm0 and then route this connection via the FE0 port to the switch which will then hopefully distrubute the connection. Can someone please check the configs of the router and switch which I have attached to this thread are correct and will allow computers connected to the switch (VLAN 20) to access the internet and the printers on VLAN 30. If it isn't correct how would I correct it??

Thanks for all of the help up to now, I have learned a lot of new stuff this past week and still have a long way to go smile.gif

I read your config's, I just don't really know where to start. You've got Voice/Data, multiple DHCP pools, and a LOT of QOS going on. Unless you've written those configs you need to start over.

You should be good after reviewing those configs, the only concern is there is no explicit ACL's on the 3650. If you do run into issues, you may need to have specific ACL's to permit and deny which VLAN can communicate with the other. Also are you running this as Layer 2 or Layer 3. If your running this as Layer 2 then you will need to add a trunk port.
The other thing I noticed is;
interface GigabitEthernet0/1
description ## Fast-Ethernet Connection to MPLS router ##
switchport access vlan 2
switchport mode access

(For layer 2)
en
conf t
int GigabitEthernet0/1
swi mod trunk
end

If your running Layer 3 on the switch, just add the appropriate ACL's.

Hi Bratas,

Sorry for the late reply!

I've changed the config of the router but I'm still not having any luck with getting this network working with the PPPoA DSL BT line.

Bratas, or someone could you please take a look at the configs and tell me where I'm going wrong, I just can't put my finger on it.

Just to give an idea of how it's physically hooked up, the connection from the line master sockect goes to the ATM0 port on the router, from there this traffic is routed from the FastEth0 on the router to the GigabitEth0 port on the switch. From here the connection is distributed to the machines on the network (That's if it worked).

Thanks in advance for the help it's much appriciated. smile.gif

give me a little bit to look everything over, although at first glance you have policy-maps stated but did not see where they were applied. Also did you get your VLAN to VLAN communication straight?

I'll look a little closer to your router here in a bit, have some "actual work" i need to do first.

EDIT 1
Shouldn't dsl operating-mode auto be assigned to the specific interface ATM0 not global???

What is the result when you do a sh ip int d0 ?

Hi bratas,
I don't have the router and switch in hand at the moment however off the top of my head it says something about ip addresses being negotiated by/with ipcp. Sorry that I can't give you more info at the moment I'll give you it all tomorrow smile.gif

Thanks,
Grant.
