Need help with GTS 450

Thread Starter
Howdy.

Closest information I could find about my Graphics card:

Palit NE5S450SF1101 GeForce GTS 450 (Fermi) Sonic 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card (Or something similar)

Big picture of it:

Now, I already have it overclocked from its stock speed of:

Core Clock 783 MHz
Memory Clock 1804 MHz
Shader Clock 1566 MHz

to:

Core Clock 900 MHz
Memory Clock 1900 MHz
Shader Clock 1800 MHz

My current Core Voltage is 1162 mV, which seems to be the maximum for it in MSI Afterburner.
Is it safe to overclock it further? I assume this would require higher voltage. So is there any way to raise the maximum?

That's a pretty heavy overclock you got going there.. Have any runs on vantage with those clocks?

Yea I would say your voltage is already fairly high for that GPU, especially seeing as you likely don't have any sort of cooling other than incidental airflow over your VRMs. I would also think that you might be able to go a little higher than 900 stably with your voltage but if not then yes I would say you are at your safe max. Only thing to do from there is try and see if you can maintain stability with slightly less voltage, and then once you optimize that then move on to your memory OC. Best of luck post up with any other questions.

Just to mention, I have fairly good cooling, and even after an hour or two of heavy gaming, temperature doesn't cross 70°C and rarely goes more then 65°C
Now all I need to do is see how to OC my processor...
Any advice where I should look first?

wellll.... if you are going to oc,.... undo your gpu's oc and start at the cpu..... then ram..... then gpu......... that is just my opinion........... i5 overclocks and setting i am not to sure about so, i would say do a bit of homework what your board can pull and what your load your psu can handel..... ocing the gpu and all with that psu is not a very good option as i asume that it is a cheap one at that as you did not say what brand it is.

but yeah.... your setup as it is with small oc's on the gpu and cpu is fine.... do not go more... the 450 is actualy a killer on the psu for the size it is.

anyway

have fun... do it in small increments and have fun

I'll try that. I don't actually know what brand my PSU is, which is why I didn't put it in. Thanks.
