I only noticed about a 2 degrees extra from your voltage, and remember that in the real world, the computer is not going to get anywhere near the temp's prime95 is going to push out. Atleast start at 1.375 voltage and try and find a stable o.c from there. I found a stable o.c of 4.8ghz, 1.385v with normal o.c settings then my secret was then to push the blck up. This gives you that little extra juice and max your voltage out biggrin.gif

Yes I am considering to increase my VCore a bit. I do want 4.7-4.8. I am googling on others opinion regarding VCore. I have seen that 1.4v is the maximum. And a temp around 72.6*. I think I can crank the voltage to 1.38 and get 4.7 or 4.8, but I am conserned about my temps in that case.
I am afraid for high temps, I probebly could increase my GPU alot more if I go to 90* in the heaven benchmark test.
Regarding the BLCK: I have read that I should NOT change that from 100MHz?

My new OC-settings. (2011-06-01)
Check the temps below. Safe for 24/7??
4800MHz @ 1.40V (too high VCore???!!)

Damn: BSOD with the new settings after 80min primetest.
Hmm...this sucks, I do want it more then 4.6Mhz but not with more then 1.4v....hmm this is getting frustrating tongue.gif

What is the VID on that CPU at 4.8 ghz?
Make sure its running at full 4.8 (and not speedsteped down) and run realtemp 3.67, then click the top right button and find out what the VID is at 4.8 ghz.

Also, can you then click "disable turbo", which should set it to 3.3 ghz(?) and then tell me the VID it reports as well?

The chip must NOT be downclocked to 1.6 ghz or the VID will not be reported correctly.

@ work now. So have to check that tonight.
So I will use my 4.8 OC and then run realtemp to check my VID?
Disable turbo? In BIOS or in realtemp?

have your tried running 4.8 at a lower vcore? I'm currently running 4.7 @1.32 with no problems, and most people around running 4.5 between 1.3-1.32. Could just be the chip which u cant help. Temps look fine tho

Also, when u run prime, do u notice ur clock speeed drop? I see you have turbo enabled with auto short/long limits. My cpu was downclocking to 4.1 until i manual set the limits to 150/120 short/long (can be set differently if wanted, one tutorial had it at 240/180)

also weird that c1e,c3,c6, and speedstep are enabled. i've heard a lot of users say c3/c6 caused instability, and c1e will downclock you typically, although theres an on/off button for it in realtemp

Disable turbo? In BIOS or in realtemp?

Realtemp has a disable turbo button in it. That way you can check the VID at stock without going back into BIOS to do it.

I have som printscreens from the run if you want to check them. But from that screenshot. this is the VID during load on enabled turbo and disabled turbo.
@ 4.7, 1.39v - Turbo Enabled, VID = 1.3661
@ 4.7, 1.39v - Turbo Disabled, VID = 1.2159 (3.3Mhz when disabled)

@ DaXxJaPxX
I have seen that I should enable the cstates, but also seen that c3 and c6 can be disabled, so also this is confusing. The speedsetp I have enabled, if not, is it not correct that it want go idle without cstate and speedstep enabled? I have never heard of setting the turbo as you described here.

C3 and C6 have nothing to do with downclocking the CPU and downvolting it when idle, but are rather can be used together with C1E/EIST (NOT sure if they are used with EIST, as EIST is controlled by the OS itself, but probably) but are with C1E), and the purpose is to basically turn off some idle cores by cutting vcore/cycles to them and putting them into a deep sleep (this is what I understand by reading the documentation). It basically is an extra power saving option, but is completely unnecessary to have enabled. Basically, enable it if you want to save an extra 10 cents a month on your electric bill (at most), but having this enabled can cause strange crashes when you are only loading 1 thread, because the vcore may not be high enough for stability, which forces you to use a higher offset to compensate. With C3/C6 disabled, you will have slightly higher temps when idle or light load, but the vcore won't shoot too low to cause crashes when using one thread.

Basically, just keep them disabled. Pretty much serves no practical use unless you're the poorest person in the world and need that 10 cents a month saved....

And your VID seems like your chip should be an average clocker. Just guessing based on the VID of 2600k's (at 3.4 ghz), as I haven't looked at the vids of 2500k's.
