I have seen that I should enable the cstates, but also seen that c3 and c6 can be disabled, so also this is confusing. The speedsetp I have enabled, if not, is it not correct that it want go idle without cstate and speedstep enabled? I have never heard of setting the turbo as you described here.

All i know is after setting my OC i read somewhere that i should enable speedstep. I tried it and immediately after rebooting cpuz read 1.6ghz, so that got changed. And as for turboboost, it seems that not all people have to adjust the power limits. After googling my minor downclocking issue with running prime95, i read a few post suggesting the adjustment of the power limits, and it worked fine. Not saying you have to, just if you see your any downclocking @load. Im relatively new to this so i wont attempt to seem like i know what im donig, this is just wat i;ve come across thus far lol.

@ Falkentyne: The VID-settings, did it say something than? Is it okay to have 1.4v at a 24/7 you think?
I got BSOD now with prime at 1.385 @4.7Ghz
Im going to test to disable C3 and C6 then. Thanks for that!

@ DaXxJaPxX, I have not seen any dowclocking yet, so dont whink this is neccessary =)

maybe after disabling c3/c6 u could try and lower ur vcore, cuz thats still kind of high. also heard that lowering ur cpu voltage to 1.709 will reduce some heat if u need it. Knocked a couple degrees C off the top for me

Yes, I did assume he did that =)
I thought I was stable before on 4.7GHz, but after 3hours prime BSOD again. So new tryes tonight with C3,C6 disabled, and CPU PLL to 1.65 or something =)

I wonder if disabling C3 and C6 when using Offset Vcore would be about the same as using manual Vcore with them Enabled wink.gif

Will experiment a little on this matter smile.gif

Turrican: I've never used C3/C6 with fixed voltages. And I don't think it will do anything. Because C1E and EIST are responsible for downclocking the chips. But you apparently (AFAIK) MUST use offsets if you want them to downvolt, also.

Turn off C1E and EIST and turn on C3/C6 and see what happens...
I CBB trying but go ahead and see what happens.

Ultimately, C3 and C6 have NOTHING to do with downclocking/C1E. They are simply a further power saving option. You use C1E+Offsets to make the CPU downclock and downvolt while idle. Disabling C3 and C6 is NOT the same as using manual vcore. Not even close. It simply stops the cpus from "parking" themselves when idle.

Think of it on HDD terms:

A HDD can either spin down into low power mode, or it can actually park itself and spin OFF, while still having current going into it--just not using any. That is sort of what C3/C6 does. It parks the cores. The problem is, there are issues with 1 thread load, where the vcore is too low for stability, and the CPU is cranked up to your max overclocked speed. That's the problem. That should NOT be happening, but due to C3/C6 parking cores, it does happen.

I'll try to explain it again so people stop getting mixed up.

You use C1E+offsets to have 5 ghz 1.5v load, 5 ghz 1.512v light load, 5 ghz 1.524v 1 thread (very light load), and 1.6 ghz 1.12v idle. You do to keep 5 ghz as a 24/7 voltage and not have the CPU under stress while idle.

C3/c6 are disabled.
No problem clearly with the light load/medium load, heavy load.

So you turn on C3/C6, and the following happens:
You run a game that uses 1 thread:

CPU ramps up to 5 ghz. Vcore is 1.47v 1 thread (but not ALWAYS 1.47v). Full load vcore is 1.5v.
Game BSOD 0124's while you're typing in the lobby.
You panic, thinking you're unstable, and raise your offsets.

Unfortunately, now, since you raised your offsets by +0.03v, your full load vcore is now 1.53v.

You see what I'm getting at ?

Just disable C3/C6 and stop wearing out your nerves....
