Worth the Upgrade?

Thread Starter
Currently I have a Western Digital 500gb (I assume it runs at 5400 RPM, it was from a Gateway about 4 years old now). Since I'm getting a new mobo and cpu, I figure now would be the best time to upgrade my HDD since I will be reinstalling everything. What I'm asking is would it be worth it to upgrade to a 7200 RPM HDD (How noticeable would the changes be?), and should I stay at 500GB, or is that amount getting small in this day and age? Or would it be more worth it to spend that money else where?

Yes it would be a very nice upgrade from a 5400 rpm drive, it should tell you on the label of your hdd. If you get a samsung spinpoint f3 or western digital caviar black you won't regret it. The F3 is the best price to performance hdd right now, I say go for it.

have you thought about this

I have been running my SSD now for almost 2 years, it was the best upgrade I did for my computer, I wish I did pay this price though.

Well yeah SSDs are cool, but they can take up most of your budget if you have one.
For hard drives a Samsung F3 is famed to be very good. The price has risen I believe, but its still a great drive. The F3 has two versions, a 500GB and a 1TB.
I'm using a Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB. Pretty fast drive, and its all the memory I need. If you have a big game collection, then you should probably opt for more.
