So I wanted to see if there was a way to lower my ping for the BF2:MC servers. A google search directed me to a thread that claimed installed Tune Up utilities IObit's Game Booster would yeild a 10-15 lowering of ping.

Here comes the stupidty...

So I did this. Let these two programs have their way with my poor registry and OS, fired up Battlefield to see what it did. First of all, ping did not lower at all. It was exactly the same. But the game itself now took an additional 30 seconds to load, with alot of blank screen before it would start. Figured oh well might as well do some gaming and see if ping goes down during the game.
The about 15 minutes into the first match the thing just froze up. After another 30 seconds of blank screen, "Battlefield 2 has stopped working". Great.

So to go about uninstalling, I find that these ****ing programs do not create backups before they rape your computer. They simply change a bunch of $h!t and call it good. I had to use windows restore in order to finally get things working alright.

Lesson: wysiwyg; there is no magic way to speed up your internet. Installing programs like these are just likely to screw up a perfectly functional system. I'm sure you veterans already know this, so this thread is for us noobs .
