i5 2500k & Hyper TX3: not getting good results - Page 2

Thread Starter
I checked some local webstores:
- The Hyper 212+ costs €31 + €9 for the extra fan = total €40
- Corsair H50 costs around €55
- Noctua D14 costs €67
- CM V8 costs €53
all will have an extra for shipping, as there are not physical shops that sell such things in the area frown.gif

from this list do you recommend Hyper 212 over the others?
I am no super overclocker, i just want to push my i5 2500k to 4.5Ghz with reasonable temperature, not more biggrin.gif

The hyper 212+ is a good cooler if you can get it cheap.. But you might as well get the D14 or the H50 (Maybe a H60) seeing as it's literally less then $20 more. It's alot better cooler then the Hyper (The D14). It also comes with awesome fans. (More then 1). Just make sure it will fit in your case thumb.gif

EDIT: Infact the H50 is a rubbish compared to the D14.. So i'd suggest to get the D14 for a maximum overclock potential.

I'd normally suggest the Hyper, but it can only push it to plus or minus 4GHz or so. The D14 can make 5GHz if you're lucky! biggrin.gif

Before you buy another cooler, read this: http://benchmarkreviews.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=170&Itemid=1&limit=1&limitstart=5
Just fill the gaps between the heat pipes and the base of the cooler, use a credit card or something similar to remove de excess, and use the method described in the link.

Well i'll be using TX3 Evo for couple of weeks, because i need my 212 evo for another pc configuration. My I5 2500K proc is clocked to 4.2GHz and the max temp is 64 degrees under stress(only one of the cores reach 64 and the max temps for the others are around 59-60 degrees). Idle temps are max 32 degrees. Very nice cooling for such a small cooler.thumb.gif

An Hyper 212 is fine for 4.5 GHz usually.

Hyper 212 evo is fine even with higher than 4.5GHz clocks. But this TX3 evo is also fine cooler and it works just fine with clocks around 4.4 - 4.5GHz. I tried it yesterday with 4.5GHz clock - max temps with prime was 65 degrees. Pretty awesome for such a small cooler. Although it was noisier than usual. smile.gif

Im still new to forums and a big fan of the 212 EVO (one fan, not two on it and my other fans are case ones (Cougar Vortex)) ... have a i7 3770K that is hitting a voltage wall at the same time Im hitting a temp wall it seems ...
