From Corsair to Swiftech

Thread Starter
I am thinking of going from a Corsair H60 to a Swiftech H2O 220 Edge kit. Still not a custom loop, I know, but I don't think the H60 is going to cut it in a badly insulated top-floor apartment in the summer with an overclocked i7-950. Does anyone here use the Swiftech 220 Edge that can recommend it, and maybe give some advice on aftermarket clamps and compression? I read a review over at Frozencpu that recommended those two things for the 220 Edge. Thank you.

For that price it really isn't worth it. For that price you can get an XSPC 360mm radiator kit. The only benefit I can see of getting the 220 Edge is that the pump is much better than the XSPC pump. Even though that pump is better the one on the XSPC is not some pos one.

Is any of this fuss worth it if I'm overclocking an i7-950 to MAYBE 4.0ghz? I see the XSPC 360mm kit is a good bit less expensive, what changes (within reason) could I make to it for improvements? Thank you.

Pretty much nothing, the rasa kit is perfect the way it comes, and the pump is not bad at all! Performs great in my system.

How easy and/or potentially risky is it to install? The rasa kit, that is. I wasn't planning on doing my gpu at all (6970, soon to be cfx). Is a HAF 932 suitable as a case for all this? Thanks again.

If you are smart and careful no risk.

HAF is a great case for watercooling.

Hmm, I am pretty careful, sometimes I still mess up but not often. What's the best spot for the rad in a HAF 932? The top?

Is your max temp ridiculous with the H60? I doubt a heat wave would impact max temps much as long as your case has decent airflow in the first place.

If you feel like spending money then go for it

The best place to put a radiator in the HAF 932 is on the inside of the top. Also the risk is next to none as long as you have half a brain. Make sure to get clamps if you need them or go with compression fittings. Also make sure your barbs are tight on the blocks and then leak test and you should be perfectly fine. I personally have never damaged any of my hard ware. I leak test minimally and if I see a leak just make sure to clean up well and give it some time to air out.
