Trying to find a mouse...halp?

Thread Starter
So I'm looking for a gaming mouse of some sort. I'm honestly pretty clueless when it comes to them...so here I am, haha. Trying to keep it around $20, maybe $25...no higher. Doesn't have to be fancy, but I need at least 5 buttons. I don't care as much about the DPI as I do about how well it tracks. Durability is a plus as well, obviously. Other than that, doesn't matter...

So what do the wizards at OCN recommend?

edit: I'd been looking at this- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16826146004
But the reviews seem to imply that QC is lacking...?

I second bashan's recommendation, only $15, about 6 buttons, flexible DPI up to 2400 even though it doesn't bug you what its at. And surprisingly cheap mice usually get their job done with less complaints then the more expensive mice. My guess is because people who buy those expensive mice really know what they are into and looking for and notice the smallest problems. Anyways some of the most recommended mice on here in that price range are the IME 3.0 and WMO

I was thinking about spending $20 on a gaming mouse too, but then I splurged and bought a Razer DeathAdder. I couldn't be happier.

That's a pretty good splurge from what I've heard. OP you might wanna splurge. Just don't overly splurge, you know.

The Deathadder is fairly cheap and is one of the most recommended mice I have seen here on OCN and it's only in the $45-60 price range ($45 on new egg is the cheapest I've seen the regular DA at, $60 from razer on their site) And it's competitor would probably be the MX518, also very highly recommended in the near $40 price range.

But if you really can't, at all, in anyway splurge over your set budget, the IME, WMO, or that ione will be good splurges and you should be just fine.

Yeah...splurging is pretty much out of the question for a newly-wed college student working part time at pizza hut, haha. I'm only buying a mouse because my only working one ATM is on of these, and it's got to be at least 6 years old at this point, if not older.

So that Qumax mouse is solid? I've never heard of the brand before, so I'm taking you guys' word on it...?

Please don't be another sucker for generic pseudo-gaming mouse with all these wild curves. The tracking and build quality on those are generally bad.

I recommend you go with the Microsoft IMO (intellimouse optical) mouse if you're looking for those amount of buttons within your specified price range. The top Quake players in the world have used the same mouse, but the one with less buttons known as the WMO (wheel mouse optical).

Here it is (MS IMO):

If you're interested in spending $30, I am selling my perfectly working Razer Deathadder after splurging $100 on a g9x.

I use a logitech mx518. its the first mouse ive bought so i dont have anything to compare it too... but i think its a sweet mouse. it fits my hand nicely, has 8 buttons (including the left and right click buttons) and a nice track wheel. all the buttons are reassignable but there are two you can use to change your DPI on the fly, which i actually found very useful in mw2 with the predator missile, crank the dpi and you can maneouver that thing like crazy lol. I live in new zealand so i dont know what currency difference is but it cost 60 bucks here or 122 coupled with a logitech g110. i do not use a mouse pad and i have never had any tracking problems, except when i get a piece of hair stuck in the sensor underneath. takes one second to blow it out.

i think it is quite a common mouse (ive been to internet cafes where every single computer had one) so there are bound to be others out there that will say if its not good but i think it is so i recommend it

edit: looked it up, bugger its $37 incl shipping at newegg.
