Switched to Nvidia, their drivers are a fail.

Thread Starter
I had 1 5850, then had 2 5850s in crossfire, and though I had some issues with some games (Empire: Total War, I'm looking at you) nothing I couldn't fix with RadeonPro and different drivers and profiles.

Got some money, and managed to sell my 5850's and decided to get 1 GTX 580, thinking Nvidia and single GPU would = no issues in any games.

How wrong was I, they're drivers since 266.58 have been absolutely horrendous, with flickering, streaks, and awful rendering (Civ 5, looking right at ya) on 1 GPU, don't want to imagine the problems with SLI.

So in case you were wondering the grass is greener on the other side, it's not. In my humble opinion ATI/AMD drivers as of now are ten times Nvidia's. This whole Bullcrap about nvidia driver = epic, AMD driver = Fail is just that, bullcrap.

my 2 cents.

I dont know why I bother, but did you uninstall and driver sweep before trying the nV cards?

Really dude? You sure its not a bad card, or did you remove all of the previous drivers using driver sweeper and such? I've used cards from both sides (580, 570, 6970, 6950) and I have not had any of the issues you've mentioned.

I've honestly yet to have driver problems with either.

No issues here with my GTX 580.

It is possible that you did not use Driversweeper to clean the system prior to install drivers.

OP = Fail. I haven't had a single driver issue with my cards.

I use to think that the nVidia's drivers were awesome, until I got my hands on a 5830. Way better. I love AMD/ATI.

Reboot into safe mode, run driver sweeper. Install 275.27 Betas and WIN.

With a single card you shouldn't be having these types of issues. Maybe it's a bad card or OC?

I'm running fine with 266.58, but anything after that aka 270+ = unstable. And don't take my word for it, go on the Nvidia forums to find out.

Just saying the whole nvidia's drivers are sugar, AMD drivers are salt is just not true.

again only my opinion (based on experience), that some might find useful.
