If RAM not supported, is this an issue?

Having trouble trying to stabilize my O/c, but just found that my ram is not supported by the mobo maker.

http://www.ec.kingston.com/ecom/hype...sp?SysID=63724

My Ram part number is:
KHX2000C9AD3T1K2/4GX

Will this stop me from stabilizing my great target of 4Ghz from the 1055T?

Nope. G.Skill ECO is not supported by my mobo and they work just fine. Ram is ram.

"supported" ram is usually just a marketing ploy to get you to buy a certain type.

All true but Gigabyte boards in my experience have always put a big "YOU AIN'T GETTING ME TO RUN THIS STUFF" when they get fussy with which RAM slots you use.

Also note that on my board, my current kit and my older corsair kit just won't run at their rated speeds and timings (+voltages), yet on my older board, they ran fine (the corsair sticks anyway). So the answer varies. Some boards have no issues, others will chuck hissy fits.

Thanks I guess that solves that then, 3 saying not a problem and one saying that it maybe a problem or maybe not. What the hell I will either fix my problems or build the "wife" a new red computer. LoL

sorry to highjack this thread but i need ur help guys

i have this mother board
msi 790gx-g65 [dual channel ] , running a amd 555 proccy

now i need to buy new rams for it
will these b supported ?
CMZ4GX3M1A1600C9 , 4gb single stick Vengeance
my frnd said tht i may have compatibility issues

also , another frnd is selling a tri channel 6gb aka 3x2gb rams of xms3 1333mhz
will this b supported by my mobo

which should b the better option in this case ?
thnx

i did not want to create a new thread cause reading this one , the not supporting ram theory is BS [nearly] , and i dint want to make a whole new thread just to get the same reply

You should go with neither and get a proper 2x2GB kit, 2 2x2GB kits or a 2x4GB kit. Run your RAM in dual channel (2 or 4 DIMMs in the correct slots). Good benefit for the same price. In any case, those kits should also work with no issue as long as there are no conflicts with other different DIMMs.

Not every motherboard supports all different kinds of RAM. Although some RAM may not be on a QVL, it may or may not be compatible.

Some motherboards just don't like some chips. My M4A78T-E doesn't like Ripjaws. It will not function correctly with them in.

So if you set your timings correctly, set voltage correctly and frequency, and you're still getting problems, perhaps your motherboard just doesn't like the RAM that you bought.
