To me it looks like these are both prebuilt rigs. I highly recommend building your own rig. Not only will you save money and gain experience, but it's a ton of fun The people on OCN can help you put together a parts list if need be as well.

On topic: the second is probably a better PC. DDR3 RAM and I7s are faster clock for clock than phenom IIs.

Well I will be building these computers, My dads friend sells computer stuff and I just put both spec lists together, So which one is the better choice? This is the parts I wanted because I dont have a ton of money to spend.

The second setup would be better fr reasons mentioned above. I wouldn't really trust a Rocketfish power supply though. Why build a mid to high end rig and cheap out on the PSU?

Oh my bad dread.

My vote goes to the i7 one. One thing to change. You will probably want triple channel ram for it. 3x2gb sticks. Performance will be a lot better than single channel (1x4 gb) and if you can get a little extra money 1600 mhz ram would be nice too

i would suggest asking to see what other choices are available because there are other choices that can be just as cheap and probably more useful or reliable

Well what other options do you suggest? Because I mean what im using one of these pc's for I dont really know what else I would need. I mean Eventually I would upgrade the ram on either system to 8gb and eventually the gpu, Because I mean games will still be coming out for a while still supporting even 2core cpu's since they make alot of their money from lower spec cpus. So I mean wont either of the pc's work for a while? Also is their a huge difference between ddr2 and ddr3? Yea I know its 2011 but over time if I did have ddr2 could I not just upgrade the ram to like 16gb and it would still be efficient?
