Ubisoft's HD remakes for PC? - Page 2

HD remakes on consoles are just the same game with increased resolution. All PC games are "HD" if you turn them up to an HD resolution and HD console remakes are exactly the same. The first splinter cell game came out on Xbox 1 and therefore it probably ran at a resolution of 480i which was the standard for TVs that existed back then. Now that the standard is 1080i a lot of games are re-released as HD games but the only real difference is that they turn up the resolution from 480 to 720 or 1080.

PC game resolution is only limited by the max res of the screen its connected to, therefore all PC games are HD capable.

Splinter cell came out on PC a long time ago. If you play in on PC and turn the resolution to 1080, then it will be every bit as HD as the HD console remakes but probably even more HD because most consoles games are only 720 at best, even remakes.

This is a pretty simple concept that console gamers may not understand at first because resolution is never something they can adjust in console games.

I think they are updating the textures and tweaking the game-play a bit.

If they are updating the texture then they are only using what was adready present in the PC version, which absolutely had higher res textures, and a high res image (two seperate things) then the original console version.

Updated shaders and models would be the only things that they could do to get me to re buy games that I already own. Low res textures I can live with, I don't like them but i can live with them.

Beyond good and evil does not have much of a difference on PC at al, some textures are sligtly higher res and thats about it...

dont know about the splinter cell or prince of persia though, but i would not expect a big difference at all.

link_90, chaos theory is GREAT!
