is my 560 gtx running hot?

Thread Starter
hi all,
i just bought a 560 gtx ti twin frozr II....
i've managed to overclock it to 990mhz @ 1.075v..couldn't reach 1GHZ though but i'm happy with that clock..
the thing is,it's running in the mid 80's when running crysis 2 and 3d mark 11-though my ambients are 30-35 c atleast if not higher-i live in Egypt and the room doesn't have AC,so what do you think guys,is my card's longevity in danger when running at these clocks and temps and volts?

I'd say 85 is a bit too high for my own liking. Ask yourself if the small performance gain is really worth it.

Max temp according to Nvidia is 99C. You are fine. Especially if that is with that high of an ambient temp.

yea would say it makes sense, voltage + clock speed would create alot of heat. tried running the fans on 100% cuz afterburner tends to give skimpy additions on the fan speed when it gets hot.

80's are hot but okay on the 5xx series cards, nvidia said they are built to run hotter. I would be worried if it hit 90C.

guys, you're great...didn't expect that number of responses in that short time!!
anyway,i need to clarify something which is that i tried to run at lower voltage(1.05v) and temps didn't make much of a difference,i'd say it's my ambient temp that is causing the issue.....by the way i had a 4850 that is still in my sig and it hit 95 c during gaming(very bad stock cooling) in summer and it's been that way for 3 solid years and still running fine...but i just don't want to screw up my new gtx 560

How many frames per second are you gaining in Crysis 2 from your overclock?
What temp does your GTX560 run at at stock volts and clocks running Crysis?
Can you notice the difference?(FPS be honest) If not then you know what the answer is run at stock.

One of my Gainward GTX 460 GS's ran at 65-67oC and that was running folding@home 100% load and approx 2mm away from a GTX 480 heat sink also running 100% load. I didn't want any of my 400 series to run above 70oC. But I have ran 9000 series cards in the 80's before now 24*7.But it did make my room uncomfortable the reason they where replaced with 400 series cards. Also power usage came into the equation.

I've seen 4850s get up into the 100's C before shutting off. I'm pretty sure they are fine up to 120 c according to AMD.

As long as you are following the manufacturers recommendations, I think you are fine. Your ambient temps are horrible for overclocking though

My GeForce GTX 560 Ti gets up to ~85C running Crysis, probably with a slightly cooler ambient, and at stock voltage/clocks.

just4funuk:
well,to be hnest,i haven't tried monitoring temps on stock 880 mhz clock yet,but i think they won't make much difference-may be slightly lower if i run on 1.025v for example, will try and tell you....
robchaos:
my temps suck for overclocking, but i try to overcome that by good airflow in my case, and i do think i've got very good air flow.
Princess Garnet:
i think that my temps are fine...given my very high ambients....but i'm glad i didn't get a gtx 560 with a stock cooler....
