I possibly found my problem
It would seem that my linked crossfire card is quite possibly half-broken.

I tried swapping it to be the primary card before the format and that resulted in aero not working, discarded that to be a windows problem, even after several driver reinstalls.

Now that I have done the format, the possibly broken card being primary, on first boot windows only let me select resolutions up to 1280x1024.
And after a restart only the picture froze at start up screen, i could hear skype logging in and stuff. ctrl+alt+delete resulted in a black screen.
Several restarts didn't fix the problem.

So I decided to swap the cards over, without driver i could select resolutions up to 1440x900 and the picture is being shown just fine.

Guess I have to RMA the second card.

It has had some fan issues as well for about 2 months now, the fan making a rumbling sound when it's cold and fine as it's heated up.
The fan could have failed for a while, but when I last checked it, it was blowing air just fine and I didn't see any temp problems.

What do you guys think, a half-broken card?

Yes sounds like time to RMA... at least you still have another card to game on and sounds to like it will be "good enough" tell you get the RMA back.

Best of luck

Actually, now after reformating, driver cleaning and system restoring a million times I have swapped the cards multiple times and tested them one by one, cards are fine, except the weird diesel engine fan.

It appears that windows craps out on me every time I install ati drivers, so i'm currently sitting here and trying to scoop the huge amount of bull**** out of the way so I would at least get a damn running windows with a functional display driver.

Pardon my manners but i'm starting to get seriously pissed off.

EDIT: Well, I just pretty much owned myself so hard today, I don't even dare to look in the mirror anymore.

After 5 hours of messing around with the software I had a divine intervention, it said "Turn on the second monitor".

So basically all I tried to fix this whole time was ati's software turning the cloned screens into extended mode.
I must have mixed up my primary/secondary monitor with all this swapping cards around.

I'll report back in later if the format fixed my BC2 issues.

EDIT2: Well, i'm getting neat fps in BC2 now, mission accomplished!
