eVGA sr-2 Question

Thread Starter
I have a question that is probably a stupid one but something I'm just curious about. With the sr-2 motherboard, do you have to have 2 Xeon CPU's or can you have 2 like i7 950's for instance or does it have to be strictly Xeon. I'm not sure on this and i've been wondering for a while now, because I really want the SR-2 but i'm just curious to what I would have to get.
Thanks in advance

I think that the processor's need to support dual QPI in order to run in a sr-2 set up. I believe this feature is mainly reserved for the middle/high end Xeon's

edit: whoops, I was too late. but for example
anything from E5620

to
Xeon X5650

Wow. This kinda stinks. But its understandable. I'm just debating what i'm looking to doing. Idk if I wanna get Sr-2 with dual CPU"s or just get a 6 core CPU.

id just get a single core CPU you wont really notice teh difference unless you do some really CPU heavy tasks. PLus OCing is much easier with a single CPU.
