I highly recommend to offset your distance from the monitor and try to give space to increase perspective/clarity of picture. Imagine, most retail/consumer resolutions*bluray* only deliver@1080 anyways(most often on 50"+screens, that still look phenomenal)

You will have to upgrade, and the limiting reagent would be VRAM even with a SLI 570freqs(3.0GB 580+ yielding greatest performance).

So you're saying....if I bought a 27 inch at 1080p...and hooked it up on my desk at the same position as my 24...and sat at the same distance....if the image looks to blocky, I can compensate by sitting or moving the monitor further?

If you sit close enough to the 27", it will look the same as the 24". Like if you sit 3 feet away from a 32" tv, then you upgrade to a 55" tv, you don't continue to sit 3 feet away. If you did, it would look horrible. I would go to an apple store, go to their 27", 2560x1400 cinema display, and remote desktop your pc and play a game. Just try it out before you buy it smile.gif.

Let me clear some things up for.

1. A 27", 1920x1080, TN panel LCD that the companies like to sell WILL look like "booty" as you put it. I prefer them term craptastic. The pixel pitch (I had wrote pixels, typo) are larger and b/c most people sit closer to their PC then they would a TV it can even lead to eye strain. Its is a really bad combination.

2. A 27" 2560x1440 Dell IPS panel will look like a whole different kind of booty, a HOT girl's booty! My IPS 30" is awesome sauce, eyegasm inducing pure win. I have been building computers for well over 10 years now and I can honestly say it was my best purchase EVER.

3. Don't worry so much about upgrading video cards. I could get close to maxing out most of my games on my old 4890, my 6950(flashed) is having no problem at all. A lot of games are not really pushing modern hardware and you'll be able to rock a card like gtx570 for at least a few years at 2560x1440.

I like to tell people to think about it this was. If there is one component to your computer that you use pretty much 100% whenever your computer is on it is the monitor. Don't skimp on your monitor as it is your window to your PC experience.

yah I know, it sucks...thats my dilemma frown.gif

I can't find ANY 27 inch with 1200p anymore...its either 1440P...or that POS I-Inc/HannsG 27.5 inch that display 1200p...I refuse to buy that monitor...I've seen it in person and its absolute booty...also its only a 1 year warranty and I heard it goes bad very frequently

Yeah, the only 1920x1200 monitors I've seen worth buying at 27" is this [ame="http://www.amazon.com/DoubleSight-DS-2700DW-Computer-LCD-Monitor/dp/B002YGPSEG"]Amazon.com: DoubleSight DS-2700DW 27" Computer LCD Monitor: Electronics[/ame] but it has been discontinued. I guess there just isn't enough demand for them frown.gif

I love my 28" I-Inc/HannsG monitor 28" at 1920x1200. bought it for $250 and still can resale it if I feel I need more. The only thing I would sell this for is for 27" 120hz monitor.

Most benchmarks I see at that resolution, frames per second takes a huge toll...almost so bad that its unplayable...or annoy me...I'm the kind of guy that likes 50-60FPS

What games are you going to be playing? If I have it I'll run a benchmark and tell you.

In the meantime I play I a lot of Fallout 3 and F3:NV, I play Borderlands, L4D2, King's Bounty, UT3, Elder Scrolls series and Call of Duty. I also play older games but they are not relevant. I max out everything except for AA as at this resolution you really don't need more than 2xAA, although I even turn on SS AA when I do. I set drivers to let game decide or max, depending on the function. I have had zero lag in any of the games mentioned. I own Crysis and Metro2033 but I don't really ever play them.

Yep, I've heard this too. I think recently one of the moderators decided to get a monitor with a smaller resolution just because it became so difficult to keep up with updating hardware to play games at a half decent frame. He was using 580s in SLI too, I think (not 100% sure).

Honestly, trying to keep up with that resolution by paying out the wazoo for hardware just isn't worth accommodating that kind of resolution.

I really want to try and dispel this myth. For 99% of modern games you don't need any better than high-end single gpu to run at max or near max settings with good min. frame rates.

EDIT: I have Crysis on Steam. How do I run the benchmark?
