i'm gonna have to agree with Majin SSJ Eric here, not because we have the same monitor, lol

myself was in the market for a 24'' monitor about a week ago, and i was pretty much set for an ips 16:10 monitor, as i was too a bit doubtful of the pixel density on a 27''. until i went to some stores and saw some 27'' 16:9 1080p monitors, and really, i was pretty impressed with the image quality of those, and yes, they're all tn panels. so in the end i took home the samsung in my sig, and saved myself a good £300 had i gone for my original choice, the u2410.

if you're gonna judge a tn panel with an ips panel, you're just wasting time, because everybody knows ips panels are way superior at all aspects except response time. just you have to ask yourself some questions, if all of the answers are 'yes', then you know you are in for an ips.

1. do i have the spending power?

2. do i really need the high colour accuracy at a professional level?

3. do i really need the extra screen real estate (2560x1440 vs 1920x1080)? in other words, do i do graphical design, image editing etc. more often than just watch movies and play games?

4. do i really need the great viewing angle? in other words, do i use the screen mostly for myself or share it with others like a tv?

I'm using an LG that does the resolution your looking for. LG makes an awesome display.

But no, support for 16:10 is excellent. Out of 100s of games, i've seen 1 or 2 that dont.

16:10 is still my prefered ratio.

He's not trolling; he's proving you wrong. Just because YOU don't have problems with any of YOUR games doesn't mean x1200 is problem-free.

You don't have every game in the world, now do you? And that's where Hydros' point is situated.

He's right, and you're wrong.

oh great...another troll rolleyes.gif

and no I don't have every game in the world...I do however have ALOT of popular & highly rated games...unlike Hydros over here who whose list of games are pretty much weak sauce crap games, except for the witcher 2...and if you are keeping up with it, they are going to fix it with a patch very shortly.

let me list my games that I have NO problems with running 16:10...and yes these are all recent games after 16:9 becoming the standard

- Starcraft 2
- Crysis 2
- Battlefield Bad company 2
- Portal 2
- Mafia 2
- Metro 2033
- Call of duty MW2 & BO
- Just Cause 2
- Mass Effect 2
- Dragon Age Origins
- Borderlands GOTY

all of these, ZERO ISSUES...all have been released within the last year or so....get over yourself

If you have a 16:10 display you either will have to live with loss in FOV or black bars, and you know it but deny it.

You just cant handle that your so loved 16:10 belongs to the history.

And just to show that you dont know what you are talking about. Following games means black bars on a 16:10 display.

Examples (black bars 16:10 display):
Alone In The Dark
Assassins Creed: Brotherhood
Bulletstorm
F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin
Ghostbusters: Sanctum Of Slime
Mirror's Edge
MX vs. ATV Reflex
The Last Remnant
The Witcher 2
WRC FIA World Rally Chamionship 2010

Just a few. There are more.

Mirrors edge and bulletstorm can be fixed to utilize full screen with 16:10, not sure about FEAR or witcher or AC:B, but haven't heard from the other ones, which are probably some minor console ports that really aren't good games at all.

exactly, his point is irrelevant...nobody plays those games because they suck ass to begin with...the only game worth standing out is witcher 2...which is obviously going to get fixed shortly says CDPR...

this is like the second instance i heard of when resolution was a problem...the witcher 2 being one of them...and battlefield 2 back in 2005...but remember, back then widescreen was not popular and DICE did not have support for it. but you can do a quick mod to run BF2 in widescreen 16:10
