and no I don't have every game in the world...I do however have ALOT of popular & highly rated games...unlike Hydros over here who whose list of games are pretty much weak sauce crap games, except for the witcher 2...and if you are keeping up with it, they are going to fix it with a patch very shortly.

let me list my games that I have NO problems with running 16:10...and yes these are all recent games after 16:9 becoming the standard

- Starcraft 2
- Crysis 2
- Battlefield Bad company 2
- Portal 2
- Mafia 2
- Metro 2033
- Call of duty MW2 & BO
- Just Cause 2
- Mass Effect 2
- Dragon Age Origins
- Borderlands GOTY

all of these, ZERO ISSUES...all have been released within the last year or so....get over yourself
You heard the man guys. He's got every game available.

My point is simple Steven. Unless you've actually played every game on the market your opinion is worth 0.

I am personally waiting for 27 inch 120 hz monitors... the wait is actually taking too and I might just settle at 24 inches. I currently game on my 42 inch LCD with my wireless keyboard and mouse sitting back on my couch... The picture looks good at like 5-6 feet away, and I can use as a normal computer, but the whole experience is just lazy. To get more serious about gaming, I prefer an actual desk, and a monitor 2 feet from your face, and even a wired keyboard and mouse, just to eliminate all input lag... Personally, at 1080p, I think the pixel density is very precise and anything higher is meant to have more space on the desktop for work use. I'd personally turn on AA at 1080p to get clarity of a 2560 resolution, and spend hundreds less on the monitor and possibly get better performance.
I mentioned 120hz not for the 3d, but for the smoothness and screen tearing... I think that would make more difference than upgrading from 1080 to 2560 as a gamer...

Just saw this...

His opinion is not worth 0

He's opinion is in fact more valid than whoevertheotherguysnamewas.

His opinion counts because fomr his view point, he can see but one game that has actual issues with 16:10.

Besides, you can run 1920x1080 in 1920x1200, not a big deal. And also, if you care enough about games to make your monitor choice 1920x1080 instead of 1920x1200 just for the extra FOV, go outside, please. I can understand price, I can understand size preference, and that's it. But, getting a 16:9 just for extra FOV in games is odd. I mean, you can do that on 1920x1200 by running 1920x1080, or you could run 1920x600 and have the most FOV. But your game would look like crap. 1920x1200 has its advantages in games too, yaknow.

With your position on "your opinion is worth 0 because you haven't done everything and know everything", nobody should be allowed to comment. Theotherguywhoeverhewas had run 2 games that had issues, and one of them is being fixed. How is his point of view any more objective than anyoneelses? It's not. He's doing all he can to praise 1920x1080, while it's obvious that all aspect ratios do fine in modern games even these days.

People have preferences and 1920x1080 vs 1920x1200 is one of them, although I'm sure most would choose 1200 just for the extra destkop space.

Black bars is an issue for most users.

No matter if you like it or not almost all games are made for 16:9 in 2011 and are intended to be played in 16:9. This is the reason why you have issues with a 16:10 display with most games released today. (Smaller FOV, black bars or stretched image)

Still you obviously can prefer 16:10 but 16:9 is the standard aspect ratio for games today. And obviously it is not very friendly to not share this valuable information to someone who wants advice on which monitor to buy.

Yeah, and my pony is pink. That counts from my point of view. You're going nowhere with this. We're trying to form a general "view" on this subject, claiming 10 games runs fine on 1920x1200 is nothing but narrow-minded to say the least. Unless you can prove otherwise, you have no valid opinion.

Preferences have absolutely nothing to do with this.

Saying 'you can't prove me wrong' is ridiculous, have you never heard of the scientific method?

the only other people you hear say that are manically religious people who don't want to engage in a reasoned discussion to reach a logical conclusions based on relative probabilities.

So you're either a troll or an idiot, both of which aren't great...

No, you just enjoy thinking you're right.

You can't prove or disprove Gods existence, so how do you know that it's wrong? You don't. It's that simple, but it's obviously too hard for you to understand.

Don't try to sound smart when you're not. "Probabilities" are based on pure guessing and/or chance. You can't say anything for certain by using these methods, hence why it's bad information.

Still you obviously still cansay that you prefer 16:10 but 16:9 is the standard aspect ratio for games.

Similarly, most games are made to be played on the controller, so why don't you just use one? This is 2011 for gods sake, controllers are the thing to use these days, KB+M so old fashioned. /sarcastic metaphor

That above paragraph is basically sayuing what you are saying with displays, but with input methods. Think for a while. Just because something is the main focus of development doesn't mean that the others don't still work just as well, or even better, as is the case with controller vs keyboard and mouse.

I have one monitor of each aspect ratio aside from 5:4 in my setup. I use the 4:3 as my main monitor. No real issues in games for me here. I have numerous reasons for using this monitor as my primary, but let me emphesize it for you, IT'S A MILLION TIMES BETTER THAN YOUR LOW QUALITY 27" 1920x1080 SCREENS.

And I don't have any issues in games with it.

Uhh. What? I think you don't know how stuff works. It's YOU guys who are making the claim that 16:9 is the only way to go. We are saying "Give us proof". It's YOU guys who have the burden of proof here, not us. It's YOU who make the claim, it's YOU who have to try and prove it.

So until you can do that, your opinions don't weigh as heavily, though they do matter at least somewhat, IMO, unlike in your limited understanding of how people and socializing and discussion work.

Well you can't usually prove something doesn't exist, but that does not mean it's real either. In your view, nobody should have an opinion. But the truth is, if you think and investigate hard enough, you can make it 99% sure that something is fact. We can never be certain of ANYTHING other than that our minds exist, not even ourselves, but our minds. That's the only thing we can know for sure, since otherwise we wouldn't know of our existance. We can't even be sure that our senses are true. But we can be REASONABLY CERTAIN. And that's the point of it. I can claim that none of you guys exist, but that doesn't make it true. I can be reasonably certain that you all exist, and that's it. I can be reasonably certain that water is transparent. I can be reasonably certain I have 10 fingers. Yet, I can prove none of this 100%. But it does not matter. Probablities are all we need. We can be 99.99999% certain that something is fact, yet never absolutely sure. That's all we need however, since it's absolutely ridiculous to think that something which is 99.9999% likely to be untrue, would be true. We don't need to be absolutely certain. We can be reasonably certain.
