Some interesting results in these tests. Seems like if you use Nvidia, KDE is your best bet.

Interesting read. Instead of this boring Nvidia vs ati with physx and Cod vs Battlefield with graphics where gameplay matters.

Great find. I was just looking for which Linux to get.

I hope you know that makes no sense. You can install any of these graphical environments on any Linux distro.

I am sad they didn't do openbox/a tiling window manager /xfce

Honestly, changing shells isn't something everyone knows how to do, though. It'd be easier to grab the Kubuntu version for some folk.

Meanwhile, I'm off to switch to KDE on my Linux install.

Looks like they optimised Unity a lot. The initial release was horrible, especially on a Netbook.

This is why I use LXDE.
Super light weight and I don't have to have the slow downs like you'd see with Gnome etc.

You do realize that neither of those have a compositing manager enabled by default right?

^ Not sure you read the article mbudden.

This articles reinforces my decision to move to KDE 4. I had just tested Fedora 15 and Gnome 3.0 "convinced" me to give KDE 4.6 a try (thanks GNOME you'll never be my DE again). Gnome 3.0 is actually blazing fast on startup and in desktop tasks (this article is about performance in OpenGL application in case you're scratching your head).

Anyway those of you who are interested should definitely read phoronix's news articles about KDE 4.7. It's getting even better.

KDE has improved so much since the initial release of KDE 4, good to see
