You can hit 4ghz with thubans fairly easy.
tbh if i was going to buy an amd cpu it would be a 1090t.

If I had to get a X6 it would be a Black Edition and would you get better FPS in Gta and BFBC2 over the x4 ?

You will almost never use those extra 2 cores unless you are doing rendering tasks. The 4 core can actually show increased performance in game over the 6.

Edit: *points to sig* the H70 is similar performance to higher end air coolers and my 4.0 is 24/7 stable.

1090t, six cores is a big advantage over 4 cores and it will overclock just as much.
So, yeah...

X6 - More Cores, More Pricey

X4 - Less Cores, Less Pricey, More Overclocking Head room

So the Question is What shall I get for GTA,Blackops and FSX ! ?

X4 and X6 will be the same in games, save some money and buy a map pack.

Thubans are actually much better overclockers the Denebs. Not all 955's or even 965's will hit 4.0. Thubans do it with ease.

For games he is pretty much right. And you can get used ones for around $100 here on OCN.

Get the 965, Mine runs at 3.9 Ghz With no probs at all. And it never gets more than around 80% usage in games like Crysis 2 and GTA IV EFLC.

Just OC your current chip as best you can and call it a day. The only thing a 965/955 have over your 9950 are the higher clock speeds. FSX is poorly made, it'll take a 2500K at ridiculous clock speeds to get anywhere near the "lag-free-ness" that you want since this is obviously one of those games that want more clock speed on one core than more cores at lower clock rates. Someone else with a Thuban asked why they were lagging in this same game I believe. You can only throw so much fast hardware at a piss-poorly optimized game.

P.S. You're in the UK, don't bother with the ripoff 6 core Phenom at all. 2500K is the closest thing to an upgrade from your current chip, if you're itching to upgrade, that should be the bare minimum CPU for you to upgrade to (or you can always wait for the Bulldozer if you want). Whether or not it is justified for you to buy a whole new rig to run a poorly developed game is down to you to decide.

P.S. FYI, a 2500K can hit 4.5GHz on air.
