6 Cores vs 4 Cores - Page 5

I got a nice 965 chip I'm at 4.25Ghz and 2.58Ghz or so for the NB and 2.3Ghz HT Link, Width 16bit (if 8 or auto is better lemme know). Pretty sure its stable 24/7, I haven't had the computer on long enough to stress it. But it folded for a good 18-20h with no issues, temp below 60c.

CM Hyper Plus + 212 with two Yate Loon's one LED, one not. And my Hyper Plus is bent slightly and the fins.

I haven't ran into any lag really besides a couple seconds sometimes when its ALOT going on and that could be non-cpu related maybe too.

Sig rig btw ~

Mine hits 4.0 at 1.38v. Just not needed for games like GTA IV, MLB 2k10, and the other games i play. I think undervolting and over clocking and running 3000mhz cpu-nb is more impressive.

EDIT: Ooops, Im actually at 4.2ghz at 1.4875 right now, glad this issue came up. No need to run that surfing the web. Its hard to get cool n quiet to kick in when Im that high. Was messing with my RAM and doing some super pi and max mem test and forgot to change back my OC.

Get your facts straight people... the AMD X4 CPU's do not overclock as well as the X6 Thubans do, You can get a higher NB freq with the X6, and the X4's can't do as well, you can easily disable the 2 cores on the X6 so only 4 are running and you still get a better NB freq than the X4 and a lower TDP than a X4 (X6 running at 125 TDP with 2 disabled cores = around 95 TDP)

So in the end, the X6 should give more performance becasue of the better NB freq clocks and much lower tempatures if you disable the 2 cores.
