nVidia OC and High Temps? Just some advice please :D

Okay, so I have an average gaming pc, 700w PSU, Quadcore AMD Phenom, 3gb Ram, 9800GT XFX.

Question, I can play BFBC2 at its highest quality no problem at all. (no idea what fps im getting but everything plays and runs smoothly)
I have seen BF3 is coming out and im sure it will be more demanding graphically so how can I overclock my 9800gt and by how much is safe to do so?

How do I also safely overclock my CPU?

Also, i've noticed my rivatuner is saying my GPU is at 73 degrees idle!!! eek.gif
That's WAY to high isn't it?!

Any advice for a newbie would be greatly appreciated. I know there are loads of threads like this but I wanted some specific advice as I didnt know if it mattered what PSU you had while OC'ing etc, Thanks!

Download MSi Afterburner:

(Yes, it will work with your card.)

After that, take the card out of the computer, blow out ALL the dust in the heatsink, and come back with Load and Ambient(room) temperatures.

Thanks! Is it safe to overclock it with the stock heatsink?
Do you know any heatsinks that will fit the card?

I overclock with stock heatsinks. On GPU's it's much more commonplace just to use the stock.

Oh okay thanks! So do you think I could squeeze 3.0ghz out of my 2.2ghz Phenom 9500 quadcore? With a new heatsink obviously?
