GTX 560 Ti: Asus or Gigabyte?

Thread Starter
So which is better: Asus' GTX 560 Ti (DirectCU II) or Gigabyte's GTX 560 Ti OC (Windforce 2x)?

I don't know which one to choose. Their prices are almost the same but Gigabyte is overclocked. I would like to know which one is cooler and quieter.
I have the gigabyte one, but they are roughly similar, if i were you i would just choose the cheapest one of the two available to you, if they are a similar price id go for the more aesthetically appealing one for you, i chose the gigabyte one because it was the cheapest one here by around 20 bucks NZD... they still have the same chipsets on them so will perform the same if you overclock them, their overclock ability is down to luck, and they both seem to have a similar cooling system on them.

so i would go for the cheapest or better looking one in your opinion. HTH...

PS; i can highly recommend the gigabyte version of this card, but ive never used the asus one.

I would go with the Gigabyte, there are some good reviews on it. Don't know much about the Asus but there are reviews out there. Bear in mind there is also an SO model from Gigabyte that pushes out a 1000Mhz core!
Here are some links:
Asus review - http://www.guru3d.com/article/asus-g...tcu-ii-review/
Gigabyte SOC/SO review - http://www.guru3d.com/article/gigaby...ti-soc-review/
Gigabyte OC product page & user reviews - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/253958
Roundup - http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum...abyte-msi.html

A hope these help you in making your decision, I am personaly going with the SOC model for my first build soon.

I'm actually picking up an Asus GTX 560 Ti today myself!

Perhaps this will persuade you as it did me:

a tip for gtx 560 ti owners, dont bother about the 1000mhz core, i get average 5 fps extra on heaven and roughly 8 in witcher 2, when i have a 940 core and 2500 memory clock, than when i have a 1050 core clock and a 2095 memory clock.

Are you saying too much overclocking is hurting the frames?

Likely saying the risk/danger of the OC wasn't/isn't worth the slight performance increase.

I also have a Gigabyte 560ti OC, and I confirm that 1000mhz isn´t that great del. I run mine at 970mhz and I only lost 2 frames in Heaven and 3 frames average on Witcher 2. As far as voltages I could lower them a lot, so I prefer this way. Also buy Asus version instead, because Gigabyte has a little electrical noise.

Thanks for the replies. I think I'll get the Gigabyte since it's a little bit cheaper and it has good reviews.

What im saying is, the MEMORY clock makes a big difference in your frames. the core clock doesnt. somehow i am thinking the core clock is already extremely fast and the memory clock bottlenecks the card.

when i had a 1050 core clock i had a 2095 MEMORY clock. and then i swapped to a 940 core clock and a 2500 MEMORY clock. and gained about 4-5 fps average in HEAVEN and about 8-10 in Witcher 2.

you can push your core clock to the limit, and you will see a miniscule difference in gaming.
you can push your memory clock to the limit and you will see a moderate difference in gaming.
