Are these GTX 580s reference design? Waterblock question

post #1 of 9
Thread Starter
Now, since my watercooled gaming rig has come to a halt, i have now decided to go with gtx 580 sli instead of gtx 560 ti sli or the 6970 cf.. I did this coz of the power, and the option to go 3d vision sorround in the future

I have already bought 3x ref. Ek waterblocks for the cards, and im starting out with just 2-way for now hehe

Now i am just asking - are these cards reference design?;

http://www.proshop.dk/Grafikkort/Pal...=pricerunnerdk

and

http://www.komplett.dk/k/ki.aspx?sku=634239#extra

im sorry its in danish, but maybe you can use google translate ? Its annoying theres no actualy picture of the PNY card .. dunno how to judge if its reference ?

appreciate it

oooh lol sorry .. I linked the wrong palit card from the store. This is the correct one; http://www.proshop.dk/Grafikkort/Pal...0-2279251.html

Are there any advantages to going non reference, when not taking the cooling into account ( since im going under water) ?

in that case they're both reference.

advantages of non-reference cards? better single card cooling, normally better connectivity, better power phases

Me too

To the OP, if you're goin with WC you need a reference board for any full-cover blocks to fit.

Rather go reference, there are more waterblocks made for reference than custom PCB. Look at the EK 580WB, btw
