Hi there everyone! I've been following this forum only recently but have been vaguely into computing since I was given my first desktop at the age of 13 and nutted out FF, slight software addons and pointless customisation.

I'm now 19 and will begin University in a year. After purchasing The Witcher 2 and coming to terms with the pathetic quality of my E7400 @ 2.80GHz, my GeForce 9500 GT and nearly dead 300gb of disk space I decided on finally purchasing, putting together and eventually overclocking my own build.

After researching as best I could I ended up getting directed to quite a few posts on this forum discussing situations I found myself in. Now that I think I've settled on parts and all I decided to join up and make sure everything was a good solid choice for a beginner and to establish this as a more grounded hobby instead of a general enjoyment.

Hopefully in 7 month when I start my Computer Science course I'll have a bit more of an understanding of a computer as a whole.

I look forward to getting to know everyone!

Thanks!
From what I've read the 2500k seems like something easy to oc and that should get me going pretty well.

I'm really excited for my degree!

what country are you in?

And yeah most 2500k's can easily get to 4.5ghz, then depending on your batch and cooling you can probably aim for 5.0ghz biggrin.gif

Australia. I'm inbetween high school and university so understandably I have a low budget so cooling is going to be something that will progressively get better and better. Being from London, you wouldn't happen to be a football fan?
