[Canucks] MSI GTX 580 Lightning Xtreme Edition (XE) 3GB Review - Page 5

I saw 631 USD on NCIX which would be a little higher than normal. But yea, if it were similar to the Evga model like 590-ish. That'd be rad. Considering it'd take off like 100-ish from my expected total cost.

I'm still trying to figure out a mobo for my upcoming build, so I have stuff I'm checking out while I wait.

If people want to play the waiting game, go for it. You'll just be at the mercy of NVIDIA.
Yea, I agree. We still don't have updated info besides rumors. I'd like to finally just buy it and get it done, and stop torturing myself with researching plenty of rumors.

I'll feel terrible when it's announced, but until then I'm excited.

Personally I don't feel terrible... in tech (whether it be computers or CE or whatever) there's always the latest and greatest. Unless you're buying a new phone every 30 days, you're never going to have the best thing out there.

Same with GPU. New stuff will always come out. The ones that can't afford it (or have to justify not buying it) will always trash it for some reason like it came to market late, or that it's no good, or that new(er) stuff is coming out, etc.

If the excuse was legitimate (performance is no good, RMA issues, availability, or even cost), then I understand. But to say "XXYY is right around the corner" when in reality no one knows, is absurd.

I'll be blunt: I don't even know when Kepler is coming out. I think maybe at MSI, maybe MAYBE 1 or 2 people might know when it is coming out (for purely product planning purposes). Beyond that... yeah, NVIDIA's address is 2701 San Tomas Expressway, Santa Clara CA 95050. Feel free to go ask them when it's coming out.

Edit: I find it hilarious that the link provided previously was on the NVIDIA forums. If it was official info, you think the community managers would leave that stuff up for the world to see? Violation of NDA is a serious issue (with millions of dollars at stake).

I agree alex, It's not that I think the cards will suck instantly, it's more of, I could either get the latest card or get these for a lower price possibly. But I'm tired of waiting, after all this time I deserve it I think. Will definitely post plenty of pictures when my new system is up and running.

I am excited beyond belief.

Edit: Oops I had a ordernumber in there.

$599 on the Egg so I imagine they'll be $599 on Amazon when they show up. Not bad only being $75 more.

I would've waited on amazon for their free 2 day shipping but 1) Wanted to make sure I ordered and didn't lose my chance. 2) I won't be ordering the rest of my system till next week so I don't need em right now.

I don't wanna be hogging this thread but I feel like it

Super jelly man. Congrats on buying the best graphics card out there

Since the first lightning showed up with GTX 275 Lightning, MSI has just been raping everybody out there in terms of non reference gpu quality and overclockability.

Its human nature. Think of it like news. Bad news sells news papers. +2 if I could Alex, great post.

It gives you piece of mind having a rep like MSIalex active in the fourms. I have seen him first hand help people out(forum members), when they were in a jam with MSI cust serviice.

moving fast off the Egg...they had 8 when I first noticed and now they have 3 in stock.

Has seriously no reviewer gotten 2 of these to do Surround reviews on? 1920x1080 is not a benchmark this card should be run on.
