Review my build.

Thread Starter
Going to purchase today. Haven't bought or overclocked a PC in 7 years. Anyhow let me know if my combo is good. I don't plan on pushing past 4ghz. Videocard will wait for a bit and I also have a nice case coming in a few weeks with fans in it. My main concern is memory as gskill sniper 1866 is a good deal verse gskill ripsaw 2133. Also do I need thermal paste or do these come preapplied?

*GskillSniper Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900) listed on Asrock memory test list.
*Intel Core i7-2600K 3.4GHz LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor
*ASRock Z68 PRO3 ATX Intel Motherboard
*OCZ ModXStream Pro 700W Modular High Performance Power Supply

!I plan on upgrading cooling in future!

I just moved all I have is a basic tool kit and 27 inch flat panel with an hdmi cord. So hopefull this is everything I need to get it up and running.

Thanks,
Sent from my IPhone.

Your definitely going to need a video card if you plan on doing any gaming or other graphics intensive work. If money is an issue, you should consider dropping down your processor to an i5 2500k and spending the money you saved on a graphics card.
Also, I trust you have hard drives, disk drives and such?

There will be some pre-aplied thermal paste on your cooler.

No case, video card, harddrive?

EDIT: I would drop it down to a 2500k as well, save a good amount of money for little performance.

And when you plan to finish it? If you are buying just these parts and waiting for the rest to buy it later then I suggest wait more and buy all at once.

Welcome snipeuout!

As for your parts, like others have stated im abit confused as to you saying youll wait for a graphics card, I take it you have one now but youll wait to buy a decent one, otherwise your pc wont work without one :?

As for the parts itself, unless your doing heavy overclocking and gaming, the 2600k is not what your looking for. Even a 2500k would be considered over the top as you can reach 5ghz on air easy.

As for the RAM, personally id still go with the g.skill rip jaws X 2133mhz kit, because its got high ram frequency, it helps with overclocking the CPU, as you can downclock the memory to suit a better cpu overclock etc.

motherboard, id go with ASUS P8P67 pro or a cheaper alternative the Gigabyte P67A-UD3-B3.

Power supply the OCZ Xstream Power supplies arent really too cracking; id go with one of the Antec New truepower Power Supplies, ideally 550w+.
