Yeah overclocking, theres another issue. I'm using the standard overdrive at the mo, 850 core overclock, I want to go higher but for the life of me I can't work out how to unlock voltage control on the new afterburner.

For voltage control, you have to change it in the Settings as well as the .cfg file in the Afterburner folder. There should be two lines about UnlockVoltageControl and UnlockVoltageMonitoring, both should be set to 1. Then to get past 850, you have to do this.

Explain this then,

I can run my Crossfire 6850's at different clocks, and one does not magically down-clock to the other. Example: I can run one at stock 775 and the other at 900. The one at 900 does not magically lower itself to 775. You can see this in Afterburner OSD, and if you like, I'll post a screenshot, and benchmarks.

I can't explain it. I also can't explain how Legit Reviews actually studied that affect AND got a response from an AMD Crossfire developer. I can't explain how The Witcher 2 has light bleeding in CF and will take a performance hit to fix. I don't really know how the drivers work, to be honest. For all I know, the drivers give the BIOS a big middle finger and change the clock speeds anyways. I really have no idea.

cf either 6850 or 6950. Pointless to wait till October for 6990 since the 7xxx series will probably be out by then.

well OP dont mind the flamewar going on here, just a good sport at OCN

as for your question, 6850 xfire is enough, and there is really no need to get more than that
