Graphic Card - Page 2

The GTX 550 $140.00 - This would complement your current rig the best, but would likely be a bad decision if you are planning to upgrade the rest of the system in the near future

GTX 560 $200.00- Would perform exactly the same as the 550 on the current rig(bottleneck) , but would perform much better on your future upgraded rig. Call it "future proofing"

GTX 460 $175.00- Probably the best card out right now in terms of performance per dollar. These can be picked up used over on the OCN market place at times for a little less. As far as future proofing goes, I would spring for the 560 over this card considering the "New" price is not much different.

I'd be a little wary of throwing a 460 on a stock Dell PSU. 450 may be ok.

What power supply do you have?

GTS450 or GTX550 would the the best choice for Your CPU IMO. Going higher is worthless untill You'll upgrade Your CPU to fast i3, i5 or i7 CPU.

Well anything will be better than onboard.

I would go with something a bit older

I think a 5770 would be a good fit here, pick one up for under a hundred.

You are going to have problems at those clock speeds no matter what you do. so why spend more, the 5770 will give you a nice card that will have no problems keeping up with your CPU.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102873

This weekend MC has a Gigabite AMD Ud2 and a 965 black for $ 139.99

I would spend my cahst there if I were you. you simply need more HP than a 1.9 dually

MY two cents

Yes the 460 will run "most" games on high without lag at 1600x900 resolution. With your CPU it will not. Its like putting a jet engine in a Volkswagen beetle, sure it seems cool, but the limitations of the beetle(your cpu) are far less than the limitations of the jet engine(gtx 460+,560+).

It comes down to future planning for the future of the rig. Do you plan to upgrade? Yes - buy something good now so you dont have to buy again when you upgrade the other parts : No- buy a gts450 and make due.

Yeah, you need a new CPU before you go for a GPU (graphics card) The one you have is slow compared to the needs of todays gpu's, sorry

You have to get past the fact that you basically have an e-mail document PC

cash may be a problem, but you have to start somewhere,

the jet engine analigy is a solid one. Core components are needed here
