coming from the guy with a 650W supply and a system that pulls ~300W peak from the wall...

You can probably play most games at close to max on a 19" screen with your video card and rig.

A 5670 will be pushing a little, but it should be ok. Ultimately we can't guarantee it won't break things though, just as we can't say for certain that your rig won't blow up tomorrow even if you don't make any changes at all.

It's your rig - you have to decide whether you want to push it a little to try and get some gaming out of it, or if you want to play it safe and stick to Solitaire and Hearts until you can afford a more comprehensive upgrade.

To power a system with a single 5670 in it, a 400W peak-rated PSU is the minimum:

So I personally would not trust that PSU.

Yeah, I know. However, I don't want to get into that right now because before long, he'll go get a 5670 and then wonder why it doesn't work.

from personal experiance, a 400 watt will work but, as soon as it goes under load it bombs out from the 450. i would say somthing a little better than a 400watt (not to you guys it was a corsair 400 watt so it is a good brand) and i had stock cocks on the cpu.

so yeah 450 watt psu and a 450 gpu and oc the cpu. that should sort out the stuff for you. tbh... if you are going to get anyhting higher than a 450 you will be waisting your time... you will actualy go backward.... how do i know this.... i tested it already. sold that rig to my wifes aunty.

so my advice from someone who has done it, do not go more than 450 460 at a huge push with a good oc on the cpu will wort it out a little but you will not gain anything from going bigger than a 450.

Sounds to me like you had other issues.

I have a GTS 450, GT 240 and E4300, all failrly heavily overclocked, folding away 24/7 at full load quite happily on a CX400.
