Thread Starter
So i'm looking to get a Samsung 2233RZ to game with since it runs at 120hz.
how will i connect it to my pc? am i looking for a mobo with a dvi connector or a gpu with it... do I need a seperate dvi card? or can i just get an hdmi to dvi adapter and connect from my gpu to monitor?
and what if i plan on going sli or crossfire...
I just have no idea how to connect the monitor to my pc.

thanks...

You need a Dual link DVI cable to allocate the bandwidth for 120hz.

Example:

thanks.. but for that i'd need to find a gpu with a dvi port right?
I'm having a lot of difficulty finding some. I see alot of hdmi ports on gpu and such...but no dvi ports. So should i use an hdmi to dvi adapter ... if all i have is hdmi off my gpu to work with the Dual Link DVI-D...

just saying since i'll be building my pc... how can i get a port on my pc that will accept that cable. Since i'm pretty sure that cable you linked comes bundled with the monitor.
i guess i need to find a gpu with dual link dvi intergrated in it... but cant find any. DVI is rarely listed on newegg.

You can use an HDMI-to-DVI converter/dongle. Or you can buy a video card with DVI out (most have DVI out - are you sure you don't have one already?)

In fact I don't think I've seen a GPU without a DVI out since .. ages. They are universal. http://www.newegg.com/Store/Category...-Video-Devices There. Pick any of them. They all have DVI.

Edit: Not sure if the dongle/converter will support 120hz.. but I can't see why it wouldn't.
