BEST Stock HSF?

Thread Starter
Ok so i want to cool down my other PC without spending any money, if at all possible.

Its a 2500k. The HSF it came with is puny, BUT i have the HSF from my i5 750. It looks a bit bigger.... Which is better?

Also i have tons of 775 stock coolers laying around (Core2 and PentiumD)
is there a way to mod them to fit the holes?

Just get a megahalems. You can get them for $50 here in the FS section. You could use the i5 750 heatsink, but I'm not sure about the 775's.

Well the idea here is to use what i have laying around. Its also going into a MediaPC. even my 92mm HSF won't fit into it.

The 775 heatsyncs are 3x bigger than the stock 2500k HSF's so those should work... although i need some way to attach it.

It might be a bit of an adventure to get it to work... The hole layout's fairly similar, but they're all slightly closer to each other than 1155. If you take some pictures, someone might come up with something.

2500K and a media PC...

Go with the i5 760 LGA 1156 heastsink, will fit no problem and probably a bit bigger. The stock heastink on the 2500K would be enough though. I assume you are not going to overclock the CPU in a media PC to to the max...

Lol nope im not going to OC it really. I decided to go with the i5 750 heatsync. I put the two side by side and the 750 is deffinalty bigger. The fan also is much stronger.
