Here is a most recent study by brettjv who paired up his 8800GT (Physx) with a single GTX470 and then with a pair of GTX470.
http://www.overclock.net/nvidia/1024...ally-help.html

For both cases, there is 'significant' framerate improvement. Go and read the results in the thread to see if you are happy with the improvement.

I have looked at your motherboard (DFI Bloodrage GTI X58) which has one empty slot between the GTX470 and the 9800GTX+ and so ventilation should not be a problem.

Your PSU (ToughPower X7 775W) also has enough native PCIe connectors to do the job.

To install the Physx card:-
1. Power down your system
2. Insert the card into your motherboard
3. Connect the two PCIe power cables to the card
4. Bootup
5. If the Physx card is detected properly, then go to NVCP to enable it as Physx card
6. If the 9800GTx+ is not detected properly, I would re-install the Nvidia driver again. The driver package should already be somewhere in your pc already. A Nvidia driver package includes the Physx driver inside already. Use the 'Clean Install' feature
I happily stand corrected.

Thank you.

I think I was lied to in the past. heh

There is the list of games that use PhysX from Wikipedia, which i am pretty sure is accurate, so if you play any of these i would do it, if not then kind of a waste of time.

The best bet is for you to follow what windfire said and install the card as a PhysX. Then fire up some of the games you already play and see what difference it makes. Quite honestly though, your 9800 will be idle for most games you play... but if it's sitting down collecting dust, dump it in there and use if (as well as fold on it if you so desire)

Coming from my boat of experience, I'd say that it really isn't unless you can get a PhysX card for cheap... This is mainly because there's only 2 PhysX titles to really give two craps about, and then I also get the feeling that it's really kind of dying off... I don't know of any new titles that are highly anticipated that are including it...

So really, I don't know... I never felt like it was really worth it... Especially when there's titles that don't have it and have superior in game particle effects and physics... i.e. Crysis... Just makes it seem like even more of a gimmick designed to boost Nvidia's revenue

Hope I shed some insight,

If your primary card is an ATI card and you want to try PhysX, as said above it's a waste of time and resources. Unless your primary card is already an Nvidia card, don't worry about it.

Obviously

This is the Nvidia section and his sig says he has a 470. I take it you never read the first page?

And PhysX is awesome, don't care what anyone says. Ati users can only dream they had the eye candy in Batman: AA
