Advice for first build

Hi, I'm new here and am about to start my first build. I was just wondering if the following parts are compatible with each other. I will mainly be using this computer for gaming, nothing too special. I do want to overclock the CPU to around 4.5 or more. Please give me suggestions for anything I might be missing, anything that is not compatible/won't fit, or dont need. Thanks in advance!

it's a great combo in fact you'll enjoy it. but if you are just doing some gaming. you'll never use 1/4 of those ram. i would get a 8gb kit and save the extra 100 bucks towards an SSD or a better gpu. heck even a better cpu cooler
post #3 of 9
16gb ram is just a waste. If you're not encoding you DONT need it.

4gb will suffice easily. Spend the saved money on a vertex 3 ssd, intel 510 series, or crucial m4.

Everything else looks fine.

edit; for that price the v8 is a bit of a waste. mugen 2 performs almost identically for less money.

Pretty much what they said. Get 4gb or 8gb of RAM, just not 16gb. That's ridiculous overkill that really can't be justified for the price. The V8 isn't really a good cooler either.

Hi guys, I wanted to thank everybody for the help! Would it be worth it to use the money saved on lowering the RAM for a Corsair H70? How much more could I overclock the 2500k with the H70 than a hyper 212+?
Yeap as stated above. 16Gb of ram is way too much. Get either a very fast 4gb kit or a nice decent 8gb kit of ram. Also dump that V8!

Make some change,
get a z68(supports ssd caching) mobo for the same price,
here are some great z68 for that price range:
gigabyte z68x ud4
gigabyte z68x ud3h
gigabyte z68x ud3p
change the cooler to a noctura nh d14
gtx570 has some pwm issues(some will argue over it)
so I suggest you to get msi gtx560ti hawk/sapphire hd6950 2gb(can be unlocked to a 6970)
Hope you like my suggestion.
