CPU is plenty. (Mate, have you not realized the site you are on? It is almost a sin to run something at stock. Overclock the CPU this instant! )

RAM is fine, PSU is plenty for the setup. GPU is fine for casual gaming, but do tell, what resolution/settings/games are you looking at?

I run games at 1920x1080. I'm mainly into FPS. All I play right now is Bad Company 2. Then when I get bored of that in the summer I might start playing LOTRO again. Then the next game I'd buy would be Battlefield 3. And I'm too scared that I'll screw something if I try to overclock
post #4 of 9
Well, I'm not sure it is a GPU bottleneck, but my 920 was getting me a 1800 on heaven benchmark, ultra tessellation on stock clocks, when I bumped it to 4 ghz, I got about 2000.

Don't worry about screwing anything up if you overclock it would be really hard to damage anything. There is a ton of useful info on this site and even more people to help you if needed. Why are you on a site called overclock.net if your not slightly interested....

The only bottleneck you need to think about is the empty one in front of you as you learn to OC here...

This isn't a build log.

Please review the section you're posting in. The usability of OCN depends on it.

Well, if you're scared, don't overclock then (yet). Read the tons of guides here and elsewhere until you are comfortable before you do anything. Once you know what you are doing however, overclocking becomes less dangerous and much more fun .

Bad Company 2 loves CPU a lot so you might want to watch your CPU use while gaming. If you are at 100%, then your CPU is being worked to the max by the game so you might (if you are a framerate junkie) want to look into an upgrade. Quite frankly though, your rig is fine. Maybe just a GPU upgrade once the next generation comes out but that's it

I am interested but I overclocked my old Athlon 64 X2 2.4 GHz to 2.8 GHz and I kept getting BSOD. I unoverclocked it (if that's a word) but it was still messed up.
