You're not forced into paying extra to play the game. It's the same concept as Halo's subscription online community. The exact same thing if not "better". I mean, I wouldn't pay for it anyway - but jeez you people will just JUMP on the opportunity to bash something to eternity just for the sake of doing it. Seriously, it's just plain sad at this point. Take it easy, Activision isn't making it so "you have to spend monthly fees to play our game and get additional content!" Most of it is community-orientated crap and they ~might end up getting some extra goodies. Does it honestly matter that much? It's the same thing as what Halo has been doing for quite some time.

I don't see anyone knocking Halo and its subscription like that. Practically never have I heard someone actually try to. But now that Call of Duty has it - it's gotta be a big deal?
Sure it's fine if they do it. The problem is, if they succeed, there's a danger it might spread to other almost all other games the way DLC spread.

Which means . . . not much. Other than a very few FPS games and a very select few games from companies I absolutely love, I buy nothing day one. Heck, if this catches on I guess I am through with the FPS genere and will revert back to buying GOTY editions if I want the SP.

Kids and their blind support of a corporation looking to plough them. Enjoy, and maybe they will even give you a kiss.

I hope they don't expect PC gamers to pay this monthly charge too. Because they won't.

I liked this part:
Quote:
Another feature of the service will give "Call of Duty" players tools, modeled on those from stock-trading websites, to analyze their performance within the game, gauging factors such as which weapons have been most successful for them in killing enemies.
Isn't that in every comparative FPS game already, and for free?... Next thing you know Activision will charge $10 for you to see the opening sequence.

Not really a monthly charge to play, but it's just another way to milk to franchise.

Basically if i were to describe it from a PC gaming stand point, it's Similar to ESEA, but for COD ran by Activision..

Do, not want. Don't care for monthly payments either.
