[WSJ] 'Call of Duty' Sets Sights on a Fee - Page 17

When Battlefield 1942 was released I was instantly hooked. When the Desert Combat mod was released I never played another FPS again. When Battlefield 2 was released I never even looked at the Call of Duty series. Til this day I have never purchased a Call of Duty title. With Battlefield 3 on the horizon, I don't even know what Call of Duty is anymore.

COD 1 was a bunny hopping, running and guning like a straight nigthmare beast until they realease a patch that put an end to that. It was hella funny bunny hopping with a BAR pwning....those were good times.

I concur to some extent. I think the reason they are pushing for this onto FPS side is prolly because of the success gained in the Asian, most notable in the Korean market.

If COD set their eyes on this, they should also set their eyes in kissing my arse.

you know reading so much about COD i kind of want to go back and install MW1....that was the last good game. After that it just got dump, MW2 had its moments but as soon as i heard it was "!5 dollars for 2-3 maps" i said thats all folks....

as for this...all i can see happening in my head is what happened with Planetside if anybody remembers that game. The online FPS that you pay to play, it started out kind of fun, new and neat but then just died off.

Honestly they want people to pay a monthly fee in order to what, play an arcade style FPS online? are you kidding me....im cheap when it comes to paying for games monthly and thanks to wow i learned my lesson, COD will not get another penny from me....and anybody who pays to play COD online is more retarded then pretending that WOW is still new and exciting...

It is so realistic that it crosses the barrier again to become unrealistic. Thats just how hyper realistic it is.

Very disgusting since the cost of the game in the first place. now asking users to pay for the multiplayer also is just greedy and I hope the Call of Duty that employs a monthly subscription fails as much as possible.

bahahaa. well you CoD fanboys enjoy that fee. ill be on the BF3 servers

Which is exactly why I don't play MMOs. You build a system, pay for internet, and buy the game, yet they want 15 bucks a month for it. If it were something I played religiously, I could see spending 15-20 bucks a year for a dedicated online system. But that's it. But the neckbeards, they like shelling out cash to do the same raids over and over again.
in defense of MMO's, they offer much much more then what the COD series can offer when it comes to monthly fees. While i do agree with you, paying 15 dollars a month after you shell out 50-60 for the game and then if they have expansion packs does hurt. I played wow for 4 years, and looking back i honestly hate myself for spending so much money....so stupid.

The only reason i can defend wow, was becuase before they ran out of ideas and just started rehashing and reusing the old stuff, it was actually worth it. They had monthly big updates, changes within the game, added new instances and items and crafting and a whole lot of other stuff you could do. As for COD.....im sorry but paying the same price as WOW for maps is not the same thing....
