[Build Log] You'd Be Surprised

Thread Starter
In preperation stages of my next build, so I'd like to get some feedback on the parts I've selected.

Intel Core i5 2500K
Asus P8P67 Pro
4GB Corsair XMS3 1600Mhz DDR3-RAM
2x EVGA 560Ti SC
1TB Samsung F3
850W CoolerMaster Silent Pro M
Fractal Design R3
Corsair H60 CPU Cooler

Total: £995

1.0 Changes:
2600K >> 2500K
8GB RAM >> 4GB RAM

2.0 Changes:
MSI Mobo >> Asus Mobo

3.0 Changes:
GTX 580 >> 560 Ti
1TB HDD >> 2TB HDD
1000W PSU >> 850W PSU
+ C400 SSD

4.0 Changes:
Fractal Design XL >> Fractal Design R3
2TB HDD >> 1TB HDD
- C400 SSD

I'm really at the limits of my budget (Infact, I've gone over) so try and save me money instead of adding to it

Also, if your suggesting parts, please suggest from Scan.co.uk, as they are my online retailer of choice, and they tend to be cheaper for most stuff. Also, I like to order all the parts for a single build from the same place, as shipping from the UK to Ireland isn't cheap.

Thanks!

If your main uses will be gaming then get the 2500k instead. The HT does not make any difference in gaming.

4gb of RAM is more than enough for gaming these days. Tighter timings don't make a difference in everyday use, high speed/tight timings is only beneficial in benching. ie superpi.

Im pretty sure a decent enough PSU 750w should run those 580s just fine.

Any reason as to why your going for the H60? I would recommend the noctua nh-d14 or the silver arrow for the cpu cooling. Also what made you go for the 580s?

As for the mobo I would definitely recommend the ASUS p8p67 Pro or the gigabyte p67 ud4, however, as your on budget I would get the Asrock p67 extreme4 over the MSI anyday.

EDIT: BTW what is your total budget? I could select a few things that will fit in your budget perfectly.

My budget is around €1600/£1400 (Hopefully, once I offload a few things).

Thanks for your suggestions!

2500k, SSD (on top of your F3), different PSU (don't need 1Kw, even for two 580's) RASA over H60. My 2c.

About £1400. I'm in Ireland and Scan is the most reliable retailer I've used when it comes to delivery prices/times/customer service/replacements.

I'm not up for full on watercooling, and I'd rather spend the money on CPU/GPU rather than SSD right now, as thats a simple upgrade in the future.

Do you really need 580's? Two 570's would be more than enough IMO
