Need a new mobo *sigh*

Well, I bought the 9850 black edition by AMD with a combo deal with the TA780G m2+ by Biostar. Funny thing...had a bunch of BSOD randomly starting to happen (its been about a year since I've had it). Updated the bios and now I can't get to the loading screen because of the "max power is over 95w, shutting down" EXCEPT if I mash f10. Then it will proceed to blue screen when in load /endrant

I can't underclock it down to 2200 and 1v (as I've read where someone suggested it) sooo I'm down to the option of buying a mobo.

With that being said, I need a cheap mobo that will be compatible with my damn 9850.

I'm also still using DDR2 like a champ.

I used to have an account back...hmm... 2005/06. Not sure what happened to it I guess it was because I didn't log in for awhile and got deactivated. Oh well.

The 9850 is 125W or 140W and the board supports max 95W TDP. It makes sense you would get problems. Combo deal... I smell a TigerDirect deal, they put together these deals with no research and people are unfortunately subjected to falling for them even if there are better deals out there.
There aren't any AM2+ boards on sale on Newegg right now with proper 125W TDP processor support... I'm looking though

EDIT:

is the cheapest I can find with reliable 125W support

This is the only AM2+ board thats instock that looks acceptable.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813130307

4+1 power phases (i would reccomend some mosfet heatsinks, but 4+1 is better than usual) 4 DIMM slots at up to 1066 and support for your Processor. Few nice overclocking features too.

Hope this helps!

Being MSI I would really say no to that. While a 4+1 can be acceptable with a 125W CPU, only if you choose the right brand with the right quality, and that MSI board is not the right choice for quality; most MSI low-end 4+1 boards with the usual NIKOS MOSFETs are known for failures. It costs not much more for an ASUS M4A785-M which has a much better quality VRM design and OCP to prevent catastrophic VRM failures.

I knew you were going to say that. I am actually currently in the same situation. I have a 140watt 9950 chip and I broke the die right off the chipset cooler trying to clean it up for new thermal paste.

Well if money was no option i found this in stock...

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...140&CatId=3504

However, your best bet may be to look through the Auctions section and see whats about, If not there is a wealth of AM2+ boards on Ebay.

The 9850 is a 125W processor

I would not overclock and run Prime 95 or anything intensive at all on a 125W board.
Are you looking for a micro ATX board? If so...

ASUS M4A785-M - motherboard - micro ATX - Socket AM2+ - AMD 785G
#1 in ASUS Socket AM2+ Motherboards
Support 125W CPU's and with some VRM cooling like Enzotech C1's and a fan on them it looks like an OK deal...

What's is your budget and what form factor do you need/prefer?
