if that's possible i've never seen it, i'd love to see proof that you can do it before i'll admit i'm wrong

Apparently you're not aware how similar the technologies are:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scalable_Link_Interface

Read the section under 3-way SLI. In case you don't want to read it there:
Quote:
The setup can be achieved using three high-end video cards with two MIO ports and a specially wired connector (or three flexible connectors used in a specific arrangement)
In case you need pictures:
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=170364

Look, I'm not here to start an argument, I'm just trying to make sure people get the right info when they read these forums. Probably the teacher side of me. Relax!

i concede the point, but you do need an extra long sli bridge for it to work, but i'll admit i was wrong, it is possible, just a pain in the butt

I just found a more recent article that shows the newer cards (GTX 580) run similar to the Crossfire Cards with the bridge arrangement:
http://www.jagatreview.com/2010/11/r...lly-that-good/

I've also read that the ASUS bridges tend to be longer than others with the ability to reach over an empty slot even. Could be worth checking out.

In any case, I don't see the need for more than 2 cards for most users, which makes everything kind of moot.

The above picture shows wrong SLI bridge connections between the three cards. This way, only two GTX 580s will be detected as SLI-capable. While not connected to the others, the third card can still be used as a PhysX processing unit.

looks like it still need to have the 3rd bridge =/

i agree with the not needing more than 2 cards, but you don't really need 2 cards to begin with, it's all about want at this point

It looks like the 990FX has a miniscule edge over the 890FX, which is kind of nice. The nForce 980a is still the superior chipset, though (I wish it was Bulldozer compatible...).

I wish there was a way to show the PCI-E performance of chipsets without exposing the weakness of a CPU. The only thing I care about is how well the northbridge handles PCI-E lanes compared to the Z68.

Listed at $200. I wonder if we will see a price drop in a few months.
