I was worried about theft at first, but now i realize half the kids leave their macbook pro's laying around. And it is much easier to snatch and flip a $1500 macbook pro than a custom desktop

I'm in the same situation as the OP. I'll be subbing this thread.

Buy a micro ATX case or laptop. I remember my mid-tower case + surround sound took up more room than I wanted.

Take into account sound. A computer that is whining can be veryy annoying to roommates.

Here is a link to one. This guys didn't do Xfire/SLI But he does have a mobo that supports it. It looks like it would be super close. Also he has 240 at the bottom. That will fit but it has to be off set. And if you do a 360 on the top you lose the top I/O panel and the top 5.25 bay.

I would suggest something like this. It's small, compact, very nice looking, only drawback is release isn't scheduled until July, but if you can wait that long, it is only suppose to retail at 100.00 or so.

what illinois college are you going to? i have it narrowed down to UIC and UIUC... <_<

you guys are slightly naive if you think somebody will just walk off with your case. most people want a quick score on cash, so taking off the side panel and unhooking things is the easiest bet. walk off with 580, ram, ssd, etc in pocket.

also, dont have anything draw attention to your case. i.e. window, lights, etc...

hard for me to talk as i have a very flashy 650d, but idk, i too have to figure something out!

Hmm I could maybe do something like that, thanks for the link!

That is another awesome looking case. I'll add it to the list as a potential candidate.

I'll be studying computer engineering at UIUC.

I don't really want anything flashy like lights or windows, just the stock sleek look is perfect.

Then you can't get anymore sleek and sexy looking then the finish on the A05N. Pictures just don' do it justice. The finish is brushed aluminum and its so sexy.

I don't doubt it. I've always wanted a Lian-Li...

Do you think 1 360 rad up top would be better or should I do 2 240 rads at the top and bottom?
I haven't ever really gotten into water cooling. But if you really want to go all out you can do the 360 and 240. The only thing is that one of the fans on the 30 may have to stay off if you want and optical drive.

If you get bored one day and have time to thumb through 250 pages on a forum give this a look through.
