Tips for lowering the vcore?

Thread Starter
Well all advice welcome to when it comes to lowering the vcore of the cpu.

Iknow every cpu is different so u can expect different results. And well ofc u need better cooling. But besides those 2 facotors, is there anything u can do?
Like maybe clock nb-frequency and increase volt there to get lower vcore?

Undervolting is kind of relative to the grade of the chip. I just undervolted a C2 965 Phenom II on the weekend to 1.26 volts. Stock speeds, of course. Having a board with very stable voltage regulation is key. Cooling the voltage regulators is another key to under (or over) volting. I simply adjust my voltage down and test as though I were overclocking (Linpack, Prime95, 3dMark Vantage, Kombustor/furmark). I lower the voltage (in BIOS) until the chip will not pass the tests. In the case of the 965 it went further than I thought it would, and dropped a good 10C off the load temps (using Noctua C12P-SE14 with 120x38mm Delta fan). It would not break over 50C with the Intel Burn Test when using 4GB of RAM, either. I would say that's not too shabby.

Usually I don't undervolt, but will overclock and test a processor to see how far it will go on stock voltage. The same rules apply, and keeping things cool is an absolute must. I know this isn't terribly informative, but might give you a head start.

As far as I'm aware there is no other factor to under volting but the grade/quality of the CPU and that's it.

I have had my 1055T x6 running @ stock stable as a rock on 1.86-1.2v so that's golden.
