Thread Starter
hello all,
my pc contain gigabyte ga-ep43ds3l motherboard,
g.skill 2*2gb 800mhz ddr2 pi-black edition
xfx geforce 9800gt 512mb gddr3
CM extreme power plus 500W (+70%)
and a CM elite 334 case with 2 fans...
the cpu is as i mentioned intel core 2 quad q9300 2.5ghz
and cpu cooling
arctic freezer 7 pro rev.2

this is first time i try to overclock the system, i overclocked my gpu by 8-10%
and i want to overclock the cpu and memory and motherboard up to like 25% better.
can someone help me get this done? or suggest me overclock the system to recomended numbers.
ty.

First of all welcome to OCN.

Secondly, please post your system specs into your sig, this can be done by going to your User CP and going to "Edit System". This will help people help you.

There are a lot of threads on overclocking on this site funnily enough so just have a search and do some research.

Make sure you have adequate cooling and know the thermal and voltage limits of your CPU before you overclock.

Any help on benchmarking programs, BIOS settings etc ask here or PM me.

Your RAM is going to be the limitation, as you'll be going well over 400FSB for a good OC. You can try overclocking your RAM, but it's time consuming and tricky.

how much you think i can get the memory speed up?
i want to get the cpu to 400fsb right now *7.5 = 3ghz , what vcore I need to get it?
and one more thing, i just applied a cpu cooler : arctic freezer 7 pro rev 2, while i writing this post the cpu temp' are: core 1: 47C , core 2: 47C , core 3: 54C , core 4: 54C (cpu like 7%load)
why there are so much differences between core 1-2 to 3-4? and do you think its too high?

The cores usually run at different temperatures although I don't know why. Maybe because of chip architecture coupled with non-uniform construction etc.

The thermal paste sounds like you did it ok, you can't really use too much. Still seems a bit hot though, what temps does it get under prime95?

my Q9400 with same cooler runs 37C idle, did you make sure the final two screws were in at the same depth? if they're not the base of the cooler will sit with only part of it in contact with the chip smile.gif
