Hi and welcome!

Getting an MSI mobo with the intention of 5Ghz OC is suicide.
Also, how exactly do you plan on cooling this Phenom @5Ghz? The only reasonable thing I saw above 4.5 was 7Ghz using liquid nitrogen to get the CPU to -120C. I don't think even water can get it to 5Ghz alone. Surely air won't unless you live in north Canada or Scandinavia.. or Siberia, which is unlikely

I was thinking about use water cooling but thanks for the info what do you think the max would be with the parts on that list. And as for where I live mississippi so I doubt I could work manage air. As for the MSI motherboard what do you suggest for a suitable board that would be good for 5Ghz overclocking

Gigabyte.

I'm an Asus fan, but Gigabyte are the best overclockers. Asus and Gigabyte are about the only 2 brands with above the average reliability and high quality VRMs, which are matter of life or death when it comes to OCing.

However, Asus boards have the nasty habbit of twitching the voltage in 0.05v amplitudes, which is a lot.

I think the max OC you'd be able to reach would be about 4100Mhz. Give or take a few If you invest A LOT in cooling, you'll be able to boost the voltage to the sky and get 5Ghz+, but it will degrade the CPU.

Still, every chip overclocks differently, so there is no way I could know exactly But don't expect above 4.1Ghz. If you make it higher - good. If you don't - don't be dissapointed - it's a monster CPU

Well to start with you won't reach 5Ghz on current AMD platform
Secondly there are some better deals out there, i.e. the ASRock 870 Extreme3 for some $10 more shipped has so much better value. You can also get cheaper 2x4GB DDR3-1600

I think I'll get an ASUS to be safe.

As for cooling is there a way to use freon to keep a computer cool?
Is there anything else besides the motherboard that needs to be changed?
alright so I can't get it up to 5ghz 4.1Ghz shouldn't be too bad for javac

As for the gaming memory I've had a bad experience with them
